A towering, staggering, mosaic of a novel that pushes the boundaries of what a novel can do. The polar opposite of a beach read. I've referred to Harkaway in the past as “Neal Stephenson on crack,” and this go round he even sprinkles in some David Mitchell of Cloud Atlas fame to make a complex yet rewarding stew of ideas that leaves you at once breathless, baffled, confused, amazed, and just when you think you're going to be lost forever manages to reel you back in in the most magnificent ways. Save this one for when you're ready for a challenge.

So brilliant in so many ways. I can't believe it took me this many years to finally get it off my wall of shame.

Continue to read these little by little between other books. Such a fun series!

Breezy, entertaining quick read...

3.5 stars...not quite as good as Girl on the Train, but entertaining nonetheless.

One of the most utterly insane, yet utterly genius, books I have ever read.

Really 4.5 but Goodreads doesn't allow half stars...

Would I have preferred this in novel format? Yes, of course. But the yarn that is spun here is pretty great, and makes me wish I lived in the UK so I could go see the play.

Great ending to a great series!

The 5 stars definitely comes from the fact that this exists in the same universe as The Bone Clocks, and I had read that one first....

4.5 of 5 stars.

This series continues to be fun to read in little bits alongside the other “main” books I read. Can't wait to continue the series...

Amazing stuff! I couldn't wrap my head around a lot of it, but it gives me even more respect for Nolan and his film...

Reads as if Neil Gaiman wrote a “Ready Player One” type premise...

4.5 out of 5 stars. Nearly perfect. Full-on Mitchell.

Honestly only read it for Gaiman's story, which is great...

A good lead up to “Lock In”....

Finally finished this (I read a few stories at a time between novels) and I love this universe. Gonna keep reading the rest of the series the same way....

Mainly read this for my faves: Martin, Abercrombie, Gaiman, and now Rothfuss, after reading his wonderful story in here...

4.5 stars. Almost rated it 5 because of how excellent it was, but there were a few plot confusion niggles that kept me from doing so. Otherwise, fantastic.

Immediately added her to my favorite authors list.

Read just long enough to get a taste of the short stories in here. Pretty good stuff...

Just read the stories by my favorite authors, which were great...

Fascinating book...great stuff...

Really 4.5 stars for me....
