Not my favorite in the series so far, but still a decent read.

What an excellent book! He was very honest and open. As I was reading it, I could hear Elton John's voice out loud as well as in the writing style. Often, famous biographies are ghost written and gloss over the nasty bits. Not this one! Kudos Sir Elton, for this wonderful look into your life.

I saw this movie before reading the book. Usually, it is the other way around. I'm not sure if it colored my opinion of the book, but this may be the rare case where I liked the movie more than the book. I read this in digital format and the small asides were at the end of the chapter. This is much easier done in a traditional book (use a second bookmark) it is much more timeconsuming in digital form. It took me away from the story. I would have preferred parenthesis directly after the word. I also think the glamour and opulence shown in the film really captures the setting better than the book.

This book took me back to my childhood! While written for young adults, this 45 year old had no qualms enjoying this read. It took a chapter to get the Thra lingo down, but I didn't mind. To me this is part of a fantasy world. Just watched the first episode of the Netflix series and they explained the terms well. I found the glossary at the back of the book after finishing! I wish it had been at the front of the book along with the map of Thra. I will be reading the rest of the series if I can get my hands on it.

For a book about magic, this book isn't very magical. I was told this was an adult version of Harry Potter. I was sadly disappointed. In fact, even when it is in the battle scenes, it's not very interesting. I found the story jumped around and was sometimes disjointed.

3 1/2 stars rounded up.
This was recommended to me because it was supposed to have a “Stranger Things” vibe. While it does have some similarities (takes place in the 80's, written from a child's viewpoint), it didn't quite hit the mark on the paranormal. Despite this, the writing was solid and the story was told well. I think the recommendation clouded my experience.
I did enjoy the references to Canadian pop culture of summer in the 80's.

This book had a few small twists that I figured out, but that didn't spoil this book for me. I love this writer's style of storytelling, including the mini stories throughout the book. It did get a little slow in the middle but a good book nonetheless.

This is a solid four stars! This book is creepy with out it being scary. I will be reading more by this author.

This was a great quick read. I do wish that we got a greater picture of exactly what happened in the last scene. It is implied throughout the book but never clearly explained.

DNF. I very rarely stop reading a book before the end. But I just didn't want to waste anymore time on it. I feel that this isn't necessarily a bad book, but more that it just was not my kind of writing style. I stopped a third of the way through the book and didn't feel that we got any further in the plot. Or that there was any. It's to bad. I liked the premise of the book.

3.5 stars. This book started out really strong, but the ending was a little weak. I anticipated the twists and figured out part of the ending about two thirds of the way through. Had some of this had come as a surprise, I would have given it 4 stars.

The best out of this author's three books. Definitely, had an Agatha Christie feel. I usually figure out the killer in most mystery novels. I didn't with this one. I did figure out the little twist at the end, which is characteristic of this author's writing.

A fairly decent read. A good beach read. I will be reading more from this author.

3 1/2 stars. Really wanted to give this a higher rating. The book started as a solid four and continued for the first 2/3 of the book. Then, the book just lost me with the crazy world. I had a hard time picturing what the author was describing and found it confusing (maybe what the author intended?). I will read the sequel when it comes out.

3 1/2 stars

3 1/2 stars. I won this book in exchange for an honest review. This book was a decent read. It was very similar to the author's first book “The Couple Next Door”, which I enjoyed very much. There wasn't as many twists as I would like but there was one really good twist at the end.

Best out of the series.

This book wasn't like anything else I have read...and I loved it. I wish there were more books out there like this one.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

I'm not sure how to describe the first half of the book. It wasn't unputdownable but it wasn't boring either. It seems like the author was laying the groundwork for the second half of the book. Around the middle of the book, the whole book changes. The author starts showing her hand. And it has some good twists. I couldn't stop reading.

Hard to follow storyline even though there isn't much happening.

An alright book. Gone Girl was much better though.

I like this one better than the first. Both Re more than a decent read.

Such a great book! I could certainly read this a few times and get more/different things from it.

Fairly philosophical for YA book. An alright read.
