The first half of this book is slow. A lot of details and not a lot going on. Once the twists start popping up, the pace improves and the story really starts to come together.
This is a reissue of a previously published book with a now popular author who used a different name with this one. Thanks for the ARC Netgalley.
I really do enjoy this series. A lot of musings taking up pages to skip, but once you get past that, the characters, the time frame and the mystery make for an enjoyable read. Didn't really care for that twist at the end tho.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is the 15th? book in the series and I don't feel like I missed anything by not having read the other books. I may have to go back and start the series from the beginning. I liked the chararcters. The lead detective and her husband were an interesting match, so maybe the earlier books really fill that relationship in. The storyline was interesting and I never guessed who did it.

This is an easy to read cozy mystery. I have been enjoying this series and this one didn't disappoint. The characters are interesting and the time period is too. I look forward to more in this series. I feel like this can be read as a stand alone even with references to the past books.

I enjoyed the story and the main character, Dr Emily Hartford. It's a huge cast of characters rotating in and out and it was somewhat confusing til it started to come together. The only character I had trouble with was the FBI agent. I didn't care for him at all. Otherwise, this was an entertaining mystery that held my attention til I finished it.

According to my kindle, I got 56% of the way thru this book and I think the only way I made it that far was lots of skimming and skipping of pages. I didn't enjoy the main character's very long and drawn out thoughts. This was supposed to be a “hilarious and compelling whodunnit mystery”, but I found nothing funny or compelling. I wasn't even interested enough to find out whodunnit.

I really enjoyed this 3rd book in the series. The 2 main detectives were interesting and the interplay between the 2 was interesting. The ex-wife was annoying and sad, the way she tried to fit in with the snobby crowd. So much time spent on her that really wasn't that interesting. The rest of the book made up for it, with 3 different investigations going on and a podcast filling in details.

The first part of this book drug with a really unlikeable main character in Iris. Her best friend who she aspired to be like, was also unlikeable. The book picked up in the middle, with the introduction of a few other characters, but the main characters didn't get any more likeable. This was just an ok read. I don't think I've ever read a book where so many of the characters are not likeable.

This book started out kinda dry, with 2 characters doing a lot of describing of their days. The middle picked up when the detectives were added and the story truly became a mystery. The ending was confusing. I don't feel like all the storylines were wrapped up well and I still don't feel like I know who did it.

Haunted House lovers will enjoy this story. Definitely spooky and weird. I enjoyed the historical timeline better than the current one. The mother and daughter in the current timeline were not as likeable as the characters in the past. Still, the story came together at the end with a satifisfying ending.
