I enjoyed this mystery with a touch of magic. The circus setting with some behind the scenes details and all the characters made it interesting. I also now want a large black panther following me around. I'll be looking forward to the next book in the series.

DI Stone is dedicated to her job despite her family and her child, although the child almost seems like a throw away. The scenes involving her husband and child were short, and it always seems like she didn't think of the child at all. I mean you come home from work and immediately have some wine vs putting your child to bed and reading them a story? As a mother, wouldn't you set reminders for your child's events and when given an opportunity to attend, take them? I guess the child needed to be there to wrap up the storyline, but it almost seemed like she was a throwaway character.
The rest of the story was interesting and ended with decent wrap ups.

Eerie Exhibits is a collection of 5 short stories all based in a museum. The 1st story was creepy enough that I put it down and read several other books before coming back to finish the others. The other 4 stories were not as creepy. It's not a bad read, just not enthralling.

I'll start by saying I've read other books by Ms Lippman that I enjoyed a lot more. I wanted to like Mrs Blossom more, but was totally annoyed by the endless musings that I was skipping pages just to get thru them. I kept waiting for her to be taken advantage of, esp when she's supposed to be smart, but taking gummies from random strangers. I enoyed the descriptions and scenes of France much more than the interaction of the characters. Over all, this was just an ok read. Quick and easy, if you sped thru the dry spots.
Thanks Netgalley for the ARC.
I enjoy historical fiction and this was a good one! Strong female character doing as best as she can despite the limits placed on women in this time frame. I enjoyed the characters and the story and look forward to the next book in the seriers.

Very fun cozy mystery. I read it on a snowy afternoon. The characters were interesting and I could hope to find neighbors like Annie did when I retire! I couldn't tell if this would be a series, but I'll be on the lookout for the next book.

This book took forever to get going, probably because there were so many characters to build. Once the murders started happening, it really took off and the storyline was more interesting. I will say that I hate books that change the point of view with a chapter heading, because I don't see those when I'm reading. Then I'm struggling to figure out who is talking and am constantling having to back up and find it.
Over all, this was a good book.

I almost put this book down and didn't finish it, but I'm glad I didn't. This book provided an interesting and horrifying glimpse into the treatment of women in France in the 1880's. While the storyline itself could have been better, the historical details were great.
I received this book as an ARC from Netgalley.
