This book should have been better than it was, but there were too many plot lines confusing the issue. Way too many characters that were part of these plot lines and the ‘over the top' characters were ridiculous and annoying. That being said, there were parts that I enjoyed. The main character Rhonda was enjoyable when she wasn't dwelling on being fat. I don't know why her being fat had to be brought up in almost every chapter. She was a great character. Move on from that. The victim father who turned out to be someone you don't want to mess....I was rooting for him. Rhonda's sister? Mostly an annoying brat with flashes of intelligence. I'll look forward to and read the next book in the series in the hopes that the characters get better.
This book took a long time to come together Multiple characters and viewpoints introduced, the going back and forther between past and present made it very confusing at the beginning. When things finally started coming together, the story moved better. The ending? Double ending?s was a little strange. Overall this was a good book, but I had almost put it down at the begining because it was confusing. If you stick with it, it does get better.

I really wanted to like this one, a locked room mystery, but on a train. This story drug on for way too long and with only one character's viewpoint. The other characters weren't very interesting and the repetive musings of the main character were boring. I almost put it down and didn't finish and maybe I should have. The ‘twist' at the end was strange and didn't feel like it fit.

So good! I really liked Annie, the main character. I enjoyed the descriptions of the Appalachian small town and really want to go to that bakery. A few twists and I didn't guess who did it. Great debut! Hopefully this is a series? I'll be looking forward to more!

I started reading it, put it down for about a week and then came back to finish it. This wasn't bad, but definitely written for a younger audience. I think that's why I put it down at first. The story eventually came together, a little creepy and mysterious before finishing. Overall it was good.

I was excited to read this book, a new one from an author I've always enjoyed reading. But I just wasn't thrilled with it. The main character Emmy was just ok. I preferred the secondary character Jude and wished for more of her. The story bogged down in spots. Several twists kept it interesting.

When I requested this book, the premise was interesting. When I started reading it, I just really wanted this book to end. There was so much tedius dialogue that I skipped over. The endless pages of the fingerprinting details were also skipped over. We knew who the killer was almost at the beginning and since there was no twist, nothing to surprise you, it stopped being interesting. The dialogue between the main character and the killer was boring. I kept reading thinking maybe there would that twist, but in the end, I was just happy the book was done.

This one definitely got better as the story went. I enjoyed the myster and the 2 main detectives. Although I do wonder what happened to the brother. I feel like after the initial interiew, he just vanished and wasn't mentioned again.
