What annoys me the most about Rose is the fact that she gets so annoyed whenever someone calls her immature, especially when Dimitri does it, but then she goes and proves exactly how immature she is. I get that she is still a teenager, but she KNOWS she should not be acting that immature and she still does a lot of stupid stuff. I also started to get very tired of her emphasizing how curvy she is and how much better she looks compared to the other girls at the Academy. We get it Rose, you look good, no need to mention it every other page.
It took me years to finally pick up this series and I am glad that I did. I actually enjoyed the first book and I feel like this is one of those series where the books get better and better (hopefully). I am so excited for the next ones and to see where the story is going.
At the moment I am not a huge fan of either Lissa or Rose, I get that their are immature because let's be honest, they are in high school. I am very intrigued by Dimitri though and I can't wait to read more about him!
I absolutely loved Jessica's debut novel “You With a View” and I was so excited when I got approved for an eARC on Netgalley for her next book, “The Ex Vows”.
The reason I am not giving this book 5 stars is because I got fed up with all the drama surrounding Adam and Grace's wedding. Anything that could've gone wrong did go wrong and at one point it became very annoying that NOTHING was going good for them, it was just too much and I felt like it took away the nice vibes of the story and it was just frustrating.
I love Eli and Georgia's relationship though, a very well done second chance romance that I devoured. Wish we had a little bit more of them and less of the wedding drama, but I get why it had to be this way, it just wasn't my favorite thing.
I am so grateful I got the chance to read an eARC of this book thanks to PRH International.
Emily Henry does it AGAIN. This is my second favorite book of hers, the first place is held by Happy Place and I don't think there's going to be a better book than that one, but Funny Story came veeery close. I loved the characters, I loved the story, the feelings, the vibes, everything about this book was amazing.
Another great historical fiction written by Daisy Wood. I read The Forgotten Bookshop in Paris and I absolutely loved it, so when I got the chance to read an early copy of The Royal Librarian, I didn't think twice.
This book was great and had all you need from a historical fiction: lots of information about what was happening at that time in the world, amazing characters, heartbreak, eye opening scenes, mystery and a beautiful plot.
We watch Sophie, the older sister of Hanna, make her way through the world and escape the terror of Nazis in Vienna. She is a strong and incredible woman, she is definitely my favorite character from the book. I loved the dual timeline - while we learn what Sophie was going through, we are also diving into the present where Lacey finds out that her grandmother is not who she thought she was, her thinking that Gubby is American, while she was truly Austrian and Sophie's younger sister. I absolutely adored how the two timelines intertwined and this was my favorite thing about the book, reading both Lacey's and Sophie's stories.
I highly recommend this book if you're looking for a great historical fiction set in the Second World War!
I LOVE Ali Hazelwood and her books, but this book just wasn't for me and it's my least favorite of hers. I didn't feel connected with the characters, I didn't feel the connection between them. Maybe it's me, maybe it's them, who knows 😂
But the knotting thing was just... NOPE. Knot for me. I haven't read anything like this before and I definitely wasn't expecting it, but I cringed so hard when they were doing stuff and the descriptions were just... not it. I was really excited for a fantasy book of Ali's, but this one just didn't live up to my expectations.
Until Now is a book that I couldn't put down, I really really enjoyed it. Before reading it, please make sure to check out all the trigger warnings and don't be fooled by the characters being in high school - this is an explicit book that touches a lot of tough subjects.
The characters were not characters that you love and that's it, they are flawed and human. Frankie is a young woman that struggles with life and we watch her grow, we see her discover herself and become stronger. Her relationship with Archer is a tough subject and I love how the author portrayed an abusive relationship. I love how she made us see exactly what happens to a victim in a relationship like that, how they struggle to get out of that situation and to leave the abuser. The book does not romanticize an abusive relationship, it helps us understand what goes on through the victim's mind.
My favorite character was definitely Chase - I love how he was the one who helped Frankie the most, even just through his existence. He is kind and sweet, he has flaws but he makes up for them. He is exactly what Frankie needs in her life.
The writing style was great and I found it very easy to read, Naomi is truly talented and she has written a story about heartbreak, suffering, struggle, abusive relationships, loss and trauma.
I wanted to pick this up after reading Spells for Forgetting and loving it and The Unmaking of June Farrow did not disappoint at all. It was an incredible book with shocking plot twists, amazing characters and a lot of feelings. The writing style is beautiful and it will keep you on the edge of your seat and wanting to find out what really happens to the Farrow women.
Really great book and the perfect sequel to One Dark Window. I loved where the story went and I absolutely loved seeing more of Ione and Elm - I didn't really like Ione in the first book, but this one made me love her so much and understand her so much better. The characters are great, the story was beautiful and tense and it kept me on the edge of my seat for so long, waiting to see what was going to happen to these amazing characters.
Of course I absolutely loved this book, it's Cassie Clare who wrote it, one of my favorite authors. I had very high expectations for this book and it did not disappoint! It was so good - I loved everything from the characters to the world building (even though I had a hard time at first understanding everything that was going on in Castellane and the magic system and... everything basically)
Thanks to the author for giving me an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed this book and so will you if you're into age gap romance and arranged marriage. I am not a huge fan of the age gap romance trope but it didn't feel forced or off in this book, it was actually pretty well done.
I loved Liesel, she is such a nice character and I empathized with her a lot of the times throughout the books. She is suffering from a chronic illness called Rheumatoid Arthritis that, besides having to take care of both her mother and her father, is making her life harder. But then comes Atlas who is there for her at any moment and even at first, while he is just a temporary husband to her, he is very helpful and makes her life a little bit easier.
I really enjoyed watching the characters live their lives and I loved all the small town vibes and the very close family dynamic.
I am so glad I got the chance to read this book as an eARC, I absolutely loved it! It's a small town romance between two very different people that at first think they aren't a match. It's a story that will melt your heart for sure! I love Amy's writing and how she managed to make me fall in love with the characters.
This was the only fictional book written by Ruta that I hadn't read yet. I've wanted to pick it up for quite some time and I am so glad that I finally did. I felt like this one was so much different from all of her other books, I can't exactly say what made it so different, but it was still amazing. I couldn't put it down and that's a very good sign, but I was expecting nothing less from one of my favorite authors!
Loved loved looooved this book! Even though Oliver was the MOST ANNOYING character ever and I wanted to smack him multiple times every single chapter, I tried to get past my hate for him and enjoy the story. I definitely did not expect things to happen the way they did and I loved that the book managed to surprise and shock me with the ending.
This book was not what I expected, the story was a little bit too slow for me and nothing much happened, but I loved the dynamics between the characters and the past/present timelines. The ending surprised me a lot, there was something I was definitely not expecting! Overall, this book was pretty good.
I LOVED THIS BOOK!!! It's a perfect book for the cosy Autumn season when you want to curl up in bed with a cup of coffee or anything hot and just read and read. I loved reading the stories both from the present and from the past and see how they intertwined. The characters were amazing, especially Eliza. Gonna recommend this to everyone!
Oh wow, what a book! I really loved it. I didn't expect to love it as much as I did since it's a bit out of my comfort zone, but it was really good. The story kept me on the edge of my seat and I was so excited to find out what was going to happen to Chique. I loved the part where the title finally makes sense, love seeing authors include the title of the book between the pages. The author did an amazing job with this debut novel and I actually cannot wait for the next book in the series!
This book was pretty nice - as a Romanian woman, I loved the fact that some of the action takes place in Romania, my home country. I don't see that often, it was a nice surprise.
The book was fast paced and I couldn't get bored while reading it, full of action and plot twists, characters that surprised me in both pleasant and unpleasant ways. My favorite character is definitely Natalia, she is such a strong and beautiful woman.
I also loved the illustrations in the book, they were a nice touch!
I don't even know where to begin - this book was everything that I expected and so much more. I'm writing this from the point of view of a person who is Romanian, but hasn't lived through the revolution - my parents did.
It is very clear to me that the author has done her research in a very thorough way. There were lots of things that impressed me, that made me smile thinking how beautiful it is to see them on paper, written by a foreign author, read by the entire world. Things like the names of the stray dogs Fetita and Turbatu (which are Romanian words for “Little Girl” and “The rabid one”). Things like the jokes Bunu and Cristian were saying with “Bula”, who is a very popular character in Romanian jokes. This book truly felt like home to me, even though it shows the not-so-pretty parts of Romania.
“I Must Betray You” is a very, very painful book. It shows the history of Romania in the communist era, the struggles our people have endured: no electricity, no hot water, waiting in never-ending lines for scraps of food, being opressed, not having the freedom to say what they were thinking, being followed by the Securitate, not being able to trust anyone, not even their own family. I love Ruta Sepetys for writing about Romania, for making people understand what my country has been through. There are a lot of people who have no idea what truly happened in Romania and I feel like the world SHOULD know.
This book made me cry so much. I literally cried for the entire second half of the book, I was reading through my tears the story of Cristian and his friends and family. How they fought with the communists, how they struggled to survive.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to read about a very painful history, but beware that this book is painful and you're going to neet lots and lots of tissues.
This book was pretty good, I really enjoyed the story. I gotta say, I hated Posy at first. She was so annoying and I got mad every time she appeared on page and I just didn't want her there, but I warmed up to her by the end of the book, she is not that bad.
I liked watching Este and Mateo fall in love and go through so many things together, I loved the whole academia vibe and the fact that it's the kind of book that will make you want to turn page after page.
