first of all, what kind of name is kenna or ledger? does colleen try to be quirky or something with all the weird names like ryle and holder?
even though some scenes did make me tear up but i think it was fucked up how they compared her sex experience with her dead ex boyfriend with his best friend and even laughed. it wasnt cutesy to me at all. and then come to think of it how long did scotty and kenna date? and she never met his best friend the entire time, didnt even come across him but somehow now all she does is run into him. i get it that he was some a player but like still. they should have met at least once considering scotty was going to propose to her and he didnt even make an effort to introduce his best friend to his potential wife??
kind of sort of disappointed with the reveal of the murderer. i had hoped it would be nate because stevie never suspected nate and i had hoped he would have had a motive or so. also i thought ellie was francis' daughter or granddaughter or something? I had hoped it would be clarified if so considering francis went to france and ellie lived in commune in france. anyway, regardless enjoyed this book.
4/5
Coming back to review this book properly, i loved this book and the story. I loved how the issues were presented and how they were taken care of, i loved that if one was straying, the other was understanding. However, cheating is never forgivable. I loved that they understood it was not something that is a “mistake” and that the blame for cheating should be on the one who committed it. I appreciated colleen so much in this book.
well, i have mixed feelings. I might have had expectations considering how great the first book was but apparently expectations lead to disappointment and that is what happened. I like their story, i did enjoy reading it but, it didnt give me the same sweet feels as rowan and zahra's feelings, because even though declan worked around trying to be better for iris but wasnt the same.
and also, what i didn't like about is how their grandfather demanded that he marry and have a kid to get his inheritance? I get that he wanted his grandsons to find their way and settle but to be honest the entire situation where iris had to get pregnant not because either of them were ready for a child but to get him his inheritance was a big turn off.
3.5
you know when you crave writing but have no particular synopsis or plot so you just sit down and write and write and not care what you're writing about because it feels so good to just put something out there? this was how i felt throughout the 21% of the book. not only was it so fucking bland, but terrible. such weak writing style, so unnecessary bullshit. the main MC is so fucking judgmental, she has opinions from what pregnant women should or shouldnt have/do/say, to what her best friend (who btw literally has named her the godmother of her first born) does with her life. her friend wants to move to suburbs because it would be easier to raise children there, the main MC doesnt like it. one of her friends had an open relationship but later closed it due to no longer agreeing about sharing, doesnt sit well with the main MC. the love interest is late to their date, suddenlt he's trying to be quirky. not only that but the character was also racist. having an italian neighbor and representing him as rude and terrible to her (she asks him where is he from italy and he says fake name or smth)
this book had too many wh!te problems. i wish there was a warning beforehand that if you're poc then this is not for you. like people have far more serious issues than your guy responding to every single text of yours which by the way is NOT antique and we well most of us wish that was the case in real life
also this was supposed to be a buddy read. gah
This made me realize that if I were ever asked to be a slave or submit to someone in this way, I would never. The book was equally disgusting and grotesque, it made me cringe and wonder just what exactly the author was on. I couldn't help but wonder who is more fucked up, Zoe of Agnes. Every time I would think that its one of them, the other goes and does something far terrible. I thought the salamander scene was gross, but then the tapeworm was just fucked up.
Even though the writing was great, I would still give three stars to this book because it's not my type and because it mislead me into assuming that it's a nice, lgbtq romantic book.
The ultimate romance novel that completely swept me away and stole my heart. I am so in love with both of the characters, wangxian has my entire fucking heart and soul. However, the placement of certain flashbacks were kind of confusing, appearing at very inconvenient and crucial moments, which made me want to hurry to the present scene to find out what happens and consequently skimming through the flashbacks and almost skipping important details. Other than that, the love between lan zhan and wei wuxian, their story, the way the author narrated it and carried it out (even though i read a translated version) but even then, even in another language, it was so significant and unique and so, so beautiful- i have no words. I'm so thankful for my best friend for finding this series and reading it, and telling me about it. I am just so glad i got to experience this sort of love.
I thought this will be another cliche young adult romance with lots of ridiculous sex but boy oh boy, it was so genuine and fun to read. I fell in love with the characters. I like that rowan wasnt mean just because he could be, and instead of zahra falling for his meanness and selfishness, the author made the male lead listen to the female lead and change his behavior. It shows that someone who wishes to change will change. You cant force someone to change unless they're willing to.
