I have to be honest, I had no plans on finishing A Fairy Nice Christmas. I got a third of the way through the book and I was scratching my head. I got to the half-way point and I was aggravated with the way I thought the story was heading.
J.A. Kerr knows what they are doing and I am so glad I finished the book. I do not want to give anything away, but the fairy knows what she is doing. If you start reading it and want to yell at Simone...be patient. Kerr knows how to reward you (laugh). A Fairy Nice Christmas is worth reading through.
In some ways this book reminds me of Ferris Bueller's Day Off (Dir. John Hughes 1986) - now Kerr is scratching their head. There is a lot of internal dialogue to the reader. This is probably because Simone has no friends to tell her tale of woe too. So you get a lot of moments of Simone telling you all kinds of things and sometimes going on a tangent. Then you have someone else, say Hannah for instance, saying “Simone...Simone...Simone...” (Bueller, Bueller, Bueller...laugh).
A Fairy Nice Christmas is truly a miracle romance (not giving away any spoilers here lol). Thank goodness for Gloria because she ensures it is a happily-ever-after holiday indeed.
I received an ARC of this book and I am writing a review without prejudice and voluntarily.
