That was AMAZING. Both of the multi-part stories included in this volume floored me. The exploration of the emotional depths of Zatanna and Bruce's relationship, especially the art giving Batman a way wider range of facial expressions than I usually see, was a rare treat. The vulnerability present lent veracity to the high stakes. Constantine, the intensely flirtatious bisexual, was welcome spice. That would be SUCH a power throuple.
As with basically all powerful animal-related stories, I have to simultaneously warn for content and praise the second story in this collection. The writing was incredible, the analysis and simultaneous takedown of Tolstoy was unexpected, the parallel of metaphor with action was seamless, the animal backgrounds were heartrending, but for the most part ended happily. Hope you enjoy this volume as much as I did.
