At first this didn't feel at all like a Cyrus Townsend Brady book, and it took me a bit to get used to the difference in tone. All the ones I've read are historicals, and this one was a contemporary for him. The plot was unusual; adventure and shipwreck and a very unpredictable chain of events.
But as I got into it, I found all the solid elements I love in Brady's books. The strong Christian message was there, along with the life lessons; a man who did wrong in the impulse of temptation is allowed to do what he can to undo his actions and redeem himself.
The only thing I would have changed is that I would have liked it to be even longer!
