Darconville (and his cat Spellvexit) go to teach in an all girl's school (Quinsy College) in Virginia; he is fated to fall in love
with a freshman student, Isabel, "Isabel, Isabel Isabel . . . " "Darconville repeated the name into the unintelligability we
call sleep - and dreamt of desperadoes." Full of prose that will boggle one's mind, his characters jump out at one with
a full personality. A read, a lovely read.
