This graphic novel provided a very straight forward explanation of the plight of refugees following the onset of Syrian civil war. I learned a lot from it. I don't think it's aimed at teenagers necessarily but it I think it'd be a good starting point for younger audiences learning about the conflict.
Read to see if it would work for lit circles for on of my Social Studies teachers, but it's definitely upper elementary or middle school. As such, is a very detailed and well researched primer on the Syrian war and refugee crisis, though a fictionalized account.
