Passenger pigeon hatchlings, thought to be extinct, are discovered in Grandmother's room after she departs on a voyage to Greenland.

A magical journey, it had me guessing if the grandmother was magic type or if it was all in the kids imagination. After missing their grandmother the family spend time in her room and find that some endangered pigeon had hatched? Confused, the family takes care of the pigeons and contact a scientists (the scientists are not mean, but the media bothers the family after the news gets out). After the kids/family seeing the conditions weren't ideal for these pigeons that want to be free. The kids leave a note for the pigeons to carry and set them free. Surprised, they get a note back...
The art is fantastic and the story really captured my imagination.
