This book is both a journey through grief and journey to understand hawks... and it just works? The author gets a goshawk to train and makes a bond with it, discovers more about it and learns what she's read is not necessary match what her hawk is. It seems like a distraction from her grief of the death of her father, but maybe is the only strand that keeps her from completely unraveling. Either way, I was captivated towards the love she had for a goshawk and her father.
She has some lovely nature and flight descriptions. It was very vivid and enjoyable to read, I feel like I was almost there sometimes.
