This one took a bit longer to get into than my first read by Fothergill, [b:The First Violin 28812799 The First Violin Jessie Fothergill https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1454248049l/28812799.SX50.jpg 16744281], and it didn't completely vault to the favorites list, but I do need to admit that I couldn't put it down for three hours straight in the final section! Katherine was a very interesting lead, an unattractive woman with an intelligent mind, but whose heart longs for love and family. As a disgruntled employee plots trouble in the mills, her brother (the owner) leaves her in charge and chases his own personal intrigues out of town. The unexpected heavy consequences of her brother's acts and of the thief her brother fired are going to revolutionize everything she knew about life...
