This one took a bit longer to get into than my first read by Fothergill, [b:The First Violin 28812799 The First Violin Jessie Fothergill https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1454248049l/28812799.SX50.jpg 16744281], and it didn't completely vault to the favorites list, but I do need to admit that I couldn't put it down for three hours straight in the final section! Katherine was a very interesting lead, an unattractive woman with an intelligent mind, but whose heart longs for love and family. As a disgruntled employee plots trouble in the mills, her brother (the owner) leaves her in charge and chases his own personal intrigues out of town.
