Short Review: This fills a needed place in books about the creation of the bible and the cannon. Fairly frequently people ask me for recommendations and I don't have a lot of good suggestions. I have read a number of books but for one reason or another most of them are not that good or too acadmeic or too focused on their narrow theological issues. But this one is decent. I still think it is too narrowly focused on an Evangelical understanding of how the bible came to be. And I did not think it made the case for spending so much time on the Septuagint for such a short book. But it is a short book that is pretty well written. It will probably be my go to recommendation for a short introduction. Still not perfect. But better than most.
