I'm probably showing my age a bit in the fact that I didn't really care for all the relationship drama or the solving of said drama to involve drinking it away. Having said that, I did enjoy the geeky references, the setting and the fact that there was more to story than just the relationships, including Alex's dream to become a playwright and the bumps and challenges along the way. She did seem to get in her own way a lot more than outside forces were, but that is something we all come to realize at some point and that makes her a very human character, if a bit young. I'm sure this will appeal to the teens and twenty-somethings a bit more than it did for me being a bit older and not quite connecting with the same issues that Alex was anymore. I liked the characters, but didn't fall in love with them. Overall I thought it was a good book, maybe not great, but pretty good and a nice breezy read for summer.
