A solid 3. I liked the dialogue about a woman's place in society, how she didn't let some Dude threatening her “reputation” blackmail her, and the hero was kinda perfect. Hero had a lot of good internal dialogue about how his instincts for “protecting her” is not something she actually likes and why etc and A LOT of contemporary romance heroes need to hear this! She knows herself best, you don't decide for her! So that was all well and good.
But besides lust and a physical connection I just really did not believe the love story or relationship. I didn't really feel like emotional connection and the love came quickly.
I'll still give this series one more try!
