Our Magnificent Bastard Tongue

Short Review: This is wildly out of my regularly reading area. I have no background on grammar. But I did think this was interesting. McWhorter read this an an audiobook and I think that is the way to go on this book. Hearing words in different language and how a grammar sounds is helpful.

But it did feel like five essays (logically and coherently) put together and not ‘The untold story of English'. The subtitle just promises too much. It sounds like it should be dull, but I listened to it in just over a day. It really was pretty interesting.
