I am a huge Tillie Cole fan & I've been missing her dark romance lately. So I figured now is as good a time as any to dive into this series.
I would say that I would rate this more like 3.5 stars. It was a good start to the series and it kept me interested, but it had some issues.
Luka & Kisa's souls have been intertwined since birth. Tragedy separated them as teenagers. Luka was involved in something that made Kisa believe that he died but instead he was sent to a Gulag prison. There they wiped him of his memory, and pumped him full of drugs that made him just want to kill.
Meanwhile, Kisa is engaged to Alik Durov, her childhood friend & business associate of her father. However, Alik is an abusive POS and makes Kisa's life hell.
Honestly, one of my main issues with this book was that Kisa's father (The mother effing mafia boss) could clearly tell that Alik was abusing his daughter....and he did NOTHING.
I was waiting for Mafia Daddy to go all Godfather on Alik.
Spoiler alert: he doesn't. Annnnnnnd I no longer respected him as the head honcho.
There was a lot of angst, but I'm happy with how it turned out. It's a dark romance so there are definitely triggers in this story. Honestly I wanted to say more about this book but I read all 4 in the series within a week and now they all kinda mesh together in my head. Whoops.
