A new collection of short stories from Hopkinson, including "Greedy Choke Puppy," which Africana.com called "a cleverly crafted West Indian story featuring the appearance of both the soucouyant (vampire) & lagahoo (werewolf)," "Ganger (Ball Lightning)," praised by the Washington Post Book World as written in "prose [that] is vivid & immediate," this collection reveals Hopkinson's breadth & accomplishments as a storyteller.

Very interesting story collection with impressive depth and breadth of material. These stories were often deeply unsettling and totally immersive. Some of the pacing felt odd, but otherwise really really good. Definitely worth a read.
Nalo Hopkinson's storytelling is ingenious IMO especially in short form - just brilliant - and captivates me line after line. She is too underread and underrated on GRs. She is THE most imaginative writer in my opinion and can write anything from horror, sci-fi, fantastical, loving, hopeful, brutal, real to just plain weird. This collection falls behind Falling in Love with Hominids for me, there were just more stories in that collection that were favorites.
