Reread December 2018. I couldn't remember much about this book - except that it was okay though I was mostly unimpressed - but it tops all the Christmas gay romance lists here, and I've been looking at some of the other books by the author, so I thought I'd reread it.
It's a sweet, simple little book. There's no angst, no misunderstandings and...while the idea is ripe for hurt/comfort, none of that, either. The transition between friends and dating is abrupt, the transition from dating and dating with sex is abrupt. I feel like there's no real romance between these two. It's just kind of...simple. Nothing bad happens, everyone behaves like mature adults and...it's just a very healthy, happy, drama-free story. Which, while great for real life, is a little boring for stories. (Should have had hurt/comfort and some real romance.) Also, the last three-four chapters covers two years. While it was needed for the story, I hate books that skip that much time.
