I just finished The First date prophecy by Kate Tamberelli and Danny Tamberelli and here are my thoughts
Lucy is an aspiring writer doing crappy jobs while she figures out how to get into the literary world. Her love life is about as flat as her job prospects. She rarely gets to date number 2 but she hasn't stopped trying.
Rudy is a former child actor scraping by in the comedy world. He doesn't set much stock in dating apps and rarely uses them.
By some miracle Lucy and Rudy match and their first date has a psychic prophesying great things if the two of them do it together...
Not knowing what to do next, the pair try to navigate a path they weren't expecting or prepared for.
I liked this book. It was the normal, run of the mill cute banter and sarcastic remarks that tend to be a theme in rom-coms. This book opened up a whole new reality of the awkwardness and rawness that actually happens in real life. Not the kind of plot that has girls wishing would happen but an honest and realistic dating experience of singles in the 21st century.
I really enjoyed Lucy. She is strong but honest in her approach to life. I would love a friend like Lucy! I like that she took the prophecy by the nuts but reserved her judgment on it as well and didn't get carried away with it. I really enjoyed watching her and Rudy get to know each other in a warts and all fashion.
Loved the plot! It was well thought out and I was hooked from start to finish. It felt like the book could very well have been a nonfiction account of a couple in the real world. It was clever and a delightful read.
