The Lady of the Decoration was the number one best-selling work of fiction in 1907. Written in the form of a journal, it is a compelling story of a woman who moves to Yokohama, Japan. The novel spans from her embarking in 1901 as a missionary/teacher to her marriage in the summer of 1905.

Strange little story. Parts are sweet, parts very interesting, parts very lame. Hence three stars.
The heroine is a teacher and decides to go overseas to be a missionary. This is the tale of how she gets there. I read it awhile back, but I do recall enjoying the ending in particular. It's the middle that limped a bit for me.
