The title story, 110 of the 124 pages, is a dramatic tale set in the Alps. Therese is a young woman beloved by Franz, but secrets from the past nearly overwhelm their chances at love. A mysterious visitor brings a sudden new interest in the abode of the girl and her father, but a conniving neighbor girl and Franz's brother are quite willing to use that man and his fate as a way to keep Franz from his true love. A retro drama piece with a German flavor.
