The Test of Love is the continuation of “The Trail of the Serpent” and “The Tortured Heart”, the third of the three books. Be forewarned that it is difficult indeed to be left at the ending of any of them without a chance to go on! I read this in a single day while doing housework.
Most of the book is set in Australia, unusual for a Southworth story, and continues the mystery begun in the first book, picking up just where the second left off.
Yes, there may be flaws to the story...but I loved the tale so well that I forgave them all. Just make sure this third book is waiting...
I read the online scanned images from Internet Archive. The biggest drawback in that is the need to have internet.
And the ending is good!
