What a fun debut story! I really loved having the chance to participate in Angela's launch week blog tour and getting to read an early copy for review.
This is a light-hearted contemporary romantic story set in the rural south. The heroine, Lucy, is a waitress at the local diner, and she hasn't had any sort of relationship before. Her endearing country speech and her strong faith in God make it really easy to root for her as a character. Even so, she's no Mary Sue sort; we see pretty quickly that her life hasn't been easy or perfect, with her mother's sickness and the tragic loss of her favorite pet being two of the sorrows she has had to face.
The hero of the piece may not be a hero at all, though. He's intrigued by Lucy's witnessing to him, but he wants revenge before he thinks twice about God. I really liked this part, and it was a lot of fun to be kept on edge wondering if he's going to make the right choices or not.
All in all, an enjoyable YA contemporary, and an author to watch.
