Let the fangirling begin!
I LOVED Rob, and I am delighted that he finally got his chance to shine and be the amazing book boyfriend / romance hero / all-around good guy I knew he would be. I also reallyreally enjoyed getting to know Gina (and her family!), and I thought she was a wonderful match for Rob.
To be fair, she started out with the handicap that Rob and a big part of his world were already a known (and beloved ;) ) quantity for me. And frankly, it's hard for any newcomer to measure up to the level of Rob-fangirling I've cultivated since book #1. :D
What I like about the fake dating trope in general is that it often gives the MCs the opportunity to get to know each other and fall in like (if it isn't also a best-friends-to-more story) before - or while - falling in love. And I appreciate that aspect of Gina and Rob's story in particular: that there's not only attraction (although that's certainly a factor), but that they start to genuinely care for each other as well.
This book gave me all the warm Rotheberg-fuzzies even if Rob's hometown only played a much smaller part this time.
