Unfortunately I'm posting this after having been evacuated and displaced due to Hurricane Laura.
This wasn't an alternate history per se, but “tweaked” historical events in an interesting way. Due to this being the 2nd in a trilogy (haven't read the 1st), I felt like walked in to the middle of a movie that I haven't seen...able to follow and enjoy the story, but feeling like I was missing something.
Would like to see how this story ends with the last book of the trilogy.

All Scot and Bothered is the 2nd book in the “Devil You Know” series by Kerrigan Byrne. I LOVE the premise of this series: strong, smart, WELL-EDUCATED females not afraid to do what needs to be done because it's the right thing to do ... um, yes, please! The sad thing is, I was about ready to DNF the book about a third of the way through due to the unwillingness of the main male character (Ramsey) to see or listen to anything that was outside his very narrow-viewed mindset.
I am glad that I stuck with it though ... I ADORE Cecelia's character. She's very loyal and protective of those she considers in her safe-keeping, and not afraid to speak up for them.
Now off to find other books by Kerrigan until time for Francesca's story!

I have mixed feelings about this book. The story itself was pretty good, told through 3 POVs. It was a little slow at first, but I guess that was to help you get to know the characters. Once the story DID kick in (about 35% in), there were so many twists that I felt wrung out by the time I finished (and that's a good thing

As a child, I enjoyed watching Miss America with my mother, especially the interview portion. This was a nice reminder of the pageantry and dreaming of ways of changing the world.

This book seems to have a lot of information on ways to potentially adjust your yoga practice. However, the information was more technical oriented for someone like me to follow, meaning someone who has NO background of how anatomy ties in with yoga. Would definitely be worth a re-read after getting a better anatomical background understanding. ☺️

I'm a bit conflicted regarding this book. The start felt a little slow, but there was a lot of back-story presented so that's OK. Once we got past that, HOLY COW, it really picked up speed for an enjoyable ride. There was a definite twist at the end that I didn't see coming. On that note, the ending felt a bit rushed for me.
Overall, an enjoyable thriller.

WOW...who'd have thought my favorite book so far this year would be a book about punctuation?
Each chapter concentrated on a specific mark, including a few that I hadn't heard of. It was surprising to learn that some of the “rules” that we had to learn in school are now open to interpretation depending on the writing style that one is following. There was just enough snarkiness along with the actual information to stay entertaining.

This was a cute book. I loved the small-town feel, coming from one myself. The irony is that I never really connected with the 3 main characters (twin brothers and their friend/love interest), but had ALL sorts of feels for the secondary characters. I would have enjoyed reading more about the “never have I ever” part of the club.

I found this book to be very enjoyable, considering the subject material. The story consisted of 8 chapters, each covering different disasters from 1865 – 1963, all which ultimately were found to be man-made. The only one that I had heard about was the Labor Day hurricane that devastated Florida in 1935.
Each story gave a breakdown of what led to each disaster (greed, malice, engineering misunderstandings of the time period), but also of the heroism of those that stepped in to assist in each case.

Overall, this was an interesting book detailing the various deaths in Shakespeare's work and comparing them to typical Elizabethan life. At times there seemed to be a bit of information overload ... if pairing with a study of Shakespeare, it would probably have seemed perfect.

Nice cookbook for the fun-loving chef who happens to be a member of ANY fandom. The recipes seem to be easy to follow with nice pictures to go along with most.

A cute book about a kitten that wants to learn Taekwondo. Her original goal is only to break a board ... ultimately, through patience and practice, gains the skills and confidence that lead to her goal.
