I loved this book so much. the children are just absolutely perfect and the master of the house is so amazing <3 I hated linus at first but fell in love with him towards the end. Overall i don't see how anyone could hate something so warm and amazing as this book. The extremely upper management made me think the ministry of magic from harry potter for some odd reason. overall hands down a five star read. so glad I picked this one up to get myself out of a funk. Great way to end my summer.
What a ride this book was. I have been in a reading slump thanks to work but boy was this book a rollercoaster. I loved the writing style and this was the first of Colleen Hoover's that I've read. Verity reminded me a lot of a Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and for those struggling to get through this one read to the end...the ending was icing on the cake...
This was the hardest read I've read to date. I was rooting for Jude the whole time but boy did this tear me up. Im giving it a four star because it was well done and heart wrenching through each part. This one will forever stay with me. Since its mental health awareness month i can appreciate this story and having read it at least once in my lifetime.
I rarely give two star ratings but unfortunately i was pretty disappointed in this read. It was a slow moving start. it didn't pick up till about 200 pages in. I was bored and though i can appreciate the main female not being a picture perfect “princess” that is the only thing I can like about this character. Rhen was interesting and thats all i can say about him. It felt repetitive between the two perspectives example of this is that we get rhen's perspective and thought process and then rewind now its harpers turn talking through the scene and thought process. I feel a dual perspective story line is fine but when scenes are repeated or feel repeated after just reading through in the other person i get bored. I have a feeling I'm an outlier in how I feel about it as booktube really hyped this book series up but I'm glad I powered through read it and its done. Sadly i went in thinking this was going to be an amazing beauty and the beast retelling but it really fell short for me.
I heard mixed things about this book so I went in blind like I usually do. I followed along with the audiobook and as the book continued I was like what the f am I listening to lol...It was twisted, dark, suspenseful and I definitely was at the edge of my seat with this one. It was hard to put down but I did pull away from time to time. I have never read anything of Karin Slaughter and I'm really glad I did. The way she builds within this book is so well done and many of the twists I was jaw dropped. Definitely will be picking up more from her.
This was a creepy and difficult read and following along with the audiobook brought a whole other element to the experience for me. I have never read anything by Lisa Jewell before this one and I'm glad that my book club selected this one. I appreciated the psychopath of the book being different than the norm not to give anything away. The twists were soo good and definitely has turned into my favorite thriller of all time.
2021 has been the year for myself on expanding my reading and trying new genres out. I'm a typical scifi/fantasy reader but I have been diving into historical fiction and other genres. This historical fiction based in the dust bowl era was incredible. As a single mother myself I was rooting for her the whole way through as a mothers love conquers all. I normally don't cry with books but this one wrecked me. I haven't read anything of Kristin Hannah's and I'm glad my book club selected this one.
I liked it but I got extremely fatigued 35% of the way through with all the detail that was in this one. I loved the world, the magic system and Shallan's character but the other parts I was starting to get bored with this audiobook. I think for the future books in this series I will read along. I'm definitely on board for this series but I'm not eager to pick up the next as that 48hr audiobook was a doozy... I felt the same way about Game of Thrones and it gave me similar vibes of the first in the game of thrones series but the magic and world was more interesting to me.
It's been a hot minute that I've read through an entire book but I'm so glad it was with this beautiful story. I felt like I was on an adventure while turning page after page. Even with the limited amount of time I had to read it was a quick read. Chapters though they were short I enjoyed the different transitions. Overall I would recommend this book but I caution on trigger warnings related to suicide, drug abuse, and depression.
There was a lot of jumping around which makes me confused if i dont type notes but this book was very well done. The acolytes were interesting and i really like zachary's character as a whole. Im so glad i took another stab at this one. I cant wait to read the night circus now. I really like morgenstern's word building and imagery and symbolism throughout this one.
