3.75 out of 5
This book was absolutely an unexpected journey. I struggle in finding a specific genre for it and it left me wondering for a long time about some of its elements. Readers who enjoy both old gothic mysteries and very low-key historical fiction will probably appreciate this lovely and not very long story.
It wasn't exactly what I was looking for, but still it was a very informative read. Some parts were too long in my opinion, but the author gave a pretty vivid picture of what was London like during Victorian era. If all you know about that time period deals with politics and the life of aristocrats this book will be useful in making you look at the other side of the country/history/social ladder.
3,75 stars
My very first cozy mystery and it was a nice 3.75 stars for me. The only reason why it's not a full 4 star is because it took me quite a bit to get invested in the characters. I really loved it towards the end and I didn't see the real solution to the mystery coming and that is great! Definitely will go on with the series.
3.75 is the precise rating. The first time I tried to read this book I ended up DNFing it, but then I gave it a second chance and the second half was so much better! The writing is beautiful and fairy tale-like, but I had some issues with the main character that fortunately were solved by the end of the story
To rate this one is a struggle. It's somewhere around 3.75 for me, but I'll go with a 4 just because 3 seems too low.
It was a buddy read and we agreed that the rhythm of the book was a bit slow yet well orchestrated with some eventful parts. I'll definitely pick up the second to see how the story goes on and if the pacing will suit me better
2nd re-read and if possible I love it even more
This is such a gentle and lovely story, perfect for both adults and children. The pastel colours are complementary to the narration and convey perfectly the atmosphere of the described world. Each character has a unique personality and background story, which is amazing considering the length of the graphic novel. Definitely read it as soon as you can!
