4.5. I liked this second one better than the first. I liked older Catherine and I liked her finding he independence from both Bones and her mother.

When Bones inevitably made his reappearance, I liked him a bit more than I did in the first too.

The drama in this one was a bit too much for me. I didn't really get what Patra's motivation was, it was confusing and I ultimately didn't care THAT much. I feel like Patra could've been a much cooler story given her back story and she sounds like the wronged one in her backstory so I also kinda felt bad for her and couldn't get behind the war.

I wish the ending was explored more. The whole thing was short, but the end was for sure rushed.

Entertaining enough. I smirked at certain spots, got giddy at the Buffy references, and I aww'd and cared about the main character but I just....didn't love it. It's overhyped. I still love Patrick Ness though and will continue binge reading his novels.

This surprised me, and it was really good! Read the other reviews, they're right!

Ugh, I love Michael Grant.

It was great to dive back into a Michael Grant novel, specifically in the “Gone” universe. I agree with many of the reviews that Shade Darby was indeed a very annoying character. Still, I found her interesting. I found everyone interesting and everyone had their own story and point for existing in this fictional universe.

The theme of power corrupting was completely outright in this book, in a way I don't think was as directly explained and explored in the rest of the Gone series and I appreciated that insight and the struggle of the corrupting power even with the “heros.” This was explored with Sam a bit as he got more and more annoyed by everyone in the FAYZ and tried not to crumble from the pressure put on him but this book explored more of the INTERNAL struggle with having all this power but still remaining “good.”

Finally, the last line of this book proved to me that no matter how old I get and even though this particular character was not even my favorite....Michael Grant can reduce me into a fan girl even in the dark universe of his scifi/horror. I audibly gasped and reread the last couple lines multiple times haha.

I'm thinking I'm going to reread the whole series, but I'm so invested I almost feel like I'm making the characters relive all the atrocities by rereading the series. Still, this is one of my favorite series by one of my favorite authors and I'm glad I gave this addition to the series a chance.

I LOVED this. It was so cute and fun and overall perfect. I loved her ambition, her work ethic, and could really relate to the hardworking intern life even though I'm not in the same industry. I really enjoyed reading about her work life, her relationship with her roommate in the city, and literally everything.

I loved all of the supporting characters and the families of the main characters. They were so cute, and it was precious that she called her mom almost everyday after moving to a big city. Can relate :).

Further, this does include romance of a small town girl who happens to be an intern meeting a millionaire with a large company and guess what? His jobs and connections do not help her with being successful AT ALL. She does it on her own, without the help of the millionare who is lowkey obsessed with her, and she doesn't even sleep with him. How refreshing.

I couldn't get into the hero. I didn't like him and felt like even after he realized her was wrong. It didn't seem like he really got it and I didn't really see the appeal to him beside his appearance apparently?? I don't see why the heroine would want to marry him so it was hard to root for them.

The mystery/action part was almost non-existent.

I actually liked this one better than the first! Trent was much better than his brother, and I enjoyed Addy. The book was sweet, quick, and fun. The mystery was a little less prevalent here but I look forward to seeing if my suspicions are correct in the next novel. Only part that made me mad is when someone proposed at someone else's wedding. That's rude. A huge no-no.

I'll say I finished it today because technically it was after midnight in the USA (but before midnight in Icelandic time). I was on the plane so I will count U.S. time :)

I overall liked this. The romance as good, the heroine was strong though-out. I liked the plot, and liked the setting. However, the slutty ex trope always annoys me and the mystery felt unfinished?? Maybe there will be more throughout the series and I'm going to give the second book in the series a shot now.

So it took me three books and way more pages than I would like to count, but I can finalllyyyy join the “I hate Todd” train. Incredibly unlikable, and it was rough to read how easily he was manipulated.

Still, I would reccommend this series and really think it is an interesting commentary on politics.

This was going to be MUCH higher if it wasn't for the terrible knock-down fights and brawling at a family BBQ. Ugh.

Also our shiny spined lawyer turned into a HUGE damsel in distress throughout the novel and it is always a pet peeve of mine when authors create this strong badass intelligent woman and then turn her into a spineless character by the time the hero saunters in.

This was very strongly just okay. A strong “fine.”

I enjoyed it, some of the stories more than others. Overall, it was kind of like a cozy hall mark movie....except the rich man who strolls into town isn't the love interest :P

gg, this book got me.

Only annoying this is I didn't like husband at all, didn't see him as the perfect man at all, and really didn't like him since the beginning. So, it was a bit annoying as to why she stayed with him even though his family is terrible.

I actually really liked this! I see it has very varied rating but I loved it. It did drag a bit at around 60% and I thought I was just going to read the wikipedia summary on the next two books but I am INVESTED. World building was very good.

Closer to 2.5 Stars. This was just...fine. Boring all the way through. I liked Luke's temper. 10/10 can relate. Didn't like that he felt bad about it. I agreed lol.

There was a scene where his nephew/ward burned the school books LUKE had paid for in a bonfire bc he wanted to be a painter and Luke took the nephew's painting supplies and added them all to the fire in a rage. He felt bad afterward and was “ashamed” but nothing was said about the nephew burning his literal expensive school books. I'm on angry Luke's side and didn't like that his justified anger was so discouraged

Counting this was my Saudi Arabia Book Around the World.

This was powerful, sad, and a really well written story from a really great perspective.

I really liked this!!!!!! It dragged a bit in part two and I wanted more ~closure~ but deff a fun ride

Main character deaths, harsh realities, and realistic love triangles. I enjoyed this one!

I hated this. I hated Dean, I hated the mystery, I hated everyone and all of their reasons for doing everything. It was all so stupid and so wrong. Everyone had a warped way of thinking that led them to their actions and it was just unbelievable.
