His sci fi thrillers are my favorite. I think this one was great and as someone who has read a lot of his books I can definitely see the growth in him as an author. The POVs were more distinctive and the connections between the characters were much more creative. I liked the plot twists and enjoyed that it wasn't a clean ending.
2.5 rounded up. The stories had too many parallels where I felt I was reading the same story just from a different POV. I wish this had a bit more differences in each story. I also was not rooting for each love story and wanted more of these girls being built up on their own. I'll be interested to see where the next book goes but not fully sure I'll read it.
I slept on this and am landing on 2 stars. While it started out good, light, and a bit funny the ending kind of devolved for me. I get the central theme of coincidences and rarities happening but I thought the darker turn was a bit unnecessary for me. I also think it dragged a bit too much and by the end of it I lost interest. :(
Oh well.
I'm rating this straight in the middle because while I did learn I 100% agree that her own opinion wasn't necessary. Even her opinions I agreed with I didn't like how it was worded. She kept saying she trusted parents to make parenting decision but they way she wrote about people making parenting decisions that didn't align with her did NOT make her seem so okay with it. Either way I think all parenting books need to be taken with a huge grain of salt and this one is no different.
I've heard A LOT about this book and finally decided to take the plunge and read it. The writing was fantastic, the beginning was very good but it lost me by the end. While I do agree with the conclusions and “morals” of this book I don't see how they needed an entire year to learn it. I did like her family though and really enjoyed that aspect of it.
