Last Night Was Killer

Wrote a review for

This one wasn't for me. It had a very interesting premise but the start was agonizingly slow. I did really enjoy the last 30-50 pages. This book is very slay queen, girl boss. I did find it odd that the main character who is a comedian, wasn't very funny. The first jokes she tells are a bad ice cream/I scream joke and the interrupting cow knock knock joke. Very old and over used jokes everyone knows. I felt like this could have been a really tight and well written novella. I did learn a lot about pole dancing though.

The Escape Room

Wrote a review for

Very interesting premise but it just didn't work for me. I wasn't a huge fan of the podcast element. I would have been happy if the book ended when chapter 94 did. The puzzles and games aren't very interesting either. It ends up repetitive. Find clues, solve puzzle, someone plays a game and then maybe gets locked in a hot room. It really lacks anything thrilling.

*SPOILER*

Maybe? I feel like the book spoils this for you with the podcast but the main character escapes. It happens so suddenly and just felt odd. Realizing there was about 100 pages left immediately made me skeptical of anything happening. I knew there was going to be another big reveal. I felt the same after chapter 94 ended. I was like ok she's going to recover and find out the final twist. And of course she does.

Such an interesting read. Very poetic. I may need to read it a few more times to fully understand everything. But I enjoyed it.

Wow. I'm really enjoying Freida McFadden novels. It started off a little slow but around the half way mark it had me hooked. Completely bonkers. More twists and turns than M. Night's driveway.

Assassins Anonymous

I absolutely love this series. I happened to read the third book first after grabbing it randomly from the library. The title caught my eye. I'm glad I gave it a chance. Thrilling action, very likable characters and a wonderful story to tie it all together. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves exciting reads.

I was very confused when this started, as I assumed it would continue where the last book left off. That bothered me a little bit at first. But it was a great entry to the series. I just need more ART in my life.

Easily the best in the series. I'm so glad (spoiler) returned. They have the best interactions and the last few novels have really suffered without them together. Loved it, on to the next one!

Wow, this had me hooked. I wasn't expecting to enjoy this book very much but I like to give things a chance. My jaw was dropping every other chapter, the story was insane. I absolutely loved it. I would have never been able to guess the ending.

The Paradox Hotel

I wasn't a huge fan of this book. Such an incredibly intriguing concept. The author does so little with it. Very unlikable main character. Her love interest didn't add much to the story. She could have been completely removed and I feel like little would have changed.

It's another Murderbot novel. They are starting to feel a bit too formulaic. It could be more exciting. It definitely wasn't as funny as previous ones. I am enjoying seeing his relationship with the humans develop though.

Dark Matter

Wow, that was probably one of the wildest books I've ever read. Bogged down slightly by the overwhelming concept of it all. It was hilarious trying to describe the book to my girlfriend around the part where they first explore the box. Because it's basically people shooting up drugs and traveling the multiverse. Overall very good. I'll have to read it again some day.
