I've always had great luck with Reece's Recommendations but I've run out of Luck!
Constant auguring between Grandmother and her daughter! Very hard to figure out what the plot was.
Too many times Grandmother was so sure of the killer but later had to change her mind.
Author had bad habit of using a person's 1st name only in one part of the book and then would use the person's last name only in other parts of the book. Should have been more consistent!
Characters were just average with no stand outs!
Book won many awards in 2024 and was the main reason I wanted to read it but so far this is July and this has been the worse book Ive read this year!
My Rating = 4.5, Not 5.0!
Pros = Goodreads Choice Award Nominee for Fiction (2019)
Avg Rating close to 4.0
Main character works in book store (I use to work as a P/T libarian)
Funny dialog including with her cat, Good Characters
Cons = Main character just a bit “Snippy” with new man when he was trying to help (Could have
toned it down)
Don ‘t read a lot of horror but this book won some awards and thought I'd try! My rating = 3.40.
The whole subject matter was just too much for me to “Digest”, Ha Ha. (Cannibalism)
May I suggest you don't try reading some pages while having a hamburger at Burger King.
The subject matter is carried to the limit in this book! David N.
If you readers think this is a Cozy Mystery then you may want to be careful, the “F” work is mention thru out the book, just a head ups for some of you folks - It didn't bother me at all. With that being said then this book can be read as a Cozy!
Good mystery, a bit long at 410 pages, good characters and lots of awards! I enjoyed it! David N.
Agatha award nominee for best debut novel 2024!
A bit slow in beginning due to 1st book in a series & character building & introductions. Really got into this about the 35% part of book. Main character Glory is fun and has no problems in stating her mind!
Good backup characters and a good mystery to boot (Not always found in Cozy Mysteries).
Book 2 of the series will be out in the last half of 2024 and want to read! David N.
