So this was... bizarre, odd, insane, and very entertaining. I couldn't put it down, and believe me, there were times when I wanted to. I really wanted to. For years to come in will say, “I once read a book where a man climbed into his girlfriend's rubbery vagina and fell in love.”
I am sure a lot of people could find “hidden” symbolism in this, but for me it was just a book to read that made my jaw drop and hang open.
Will I read more bizarre, I like that word, fiction? I may at some point, but for now this one was enough.
A perfect, quick read if you want to have a lot of “huh!?” moments. The writer is good at what he does.
I liked some of this, but not all of it.
In this we have a bunch of warriors from Atlantis. There are seven of them, I think. The female lead, Ripley, is a pretty great character. She's funny, been through a shifty time concerning work, has a connection to the ocean, and has one heck of a mouth, I liked her. The male character, in my opinion, was a bit flat. He had just, the same day, finally gotten away from seven years of torture from a sic, headed vampire goddess (I think she was a goddess, maybe queen). I feel he should have been a bit more reluctant, scarred internally, or something than the way he was written. The storyline was good, but at times I never thought the story was ever going to venture outside of a safehouse. There was a bit too much conversation going on for my liking. There was a good deal of bromance going on and i liked how there is already plot twists that will most definitely be the topic of focus for the second book. If this goes well, this could possibly be a reallly grezt series. The writing is decent and I have high hopes that this author will do better with other books in this series. All that said, this story was decent, and there is just enough that liked to get me to look at the next book... if it's available.
This is okay. I like the idea of gargoyles, which tissue not what these characters like being called, but whatever. I like the writing. What I wish it had was more characters, not something I usually ask for. The main characters were great, but there wasn't much more. I wanted more story, more world building. Again another series that may or may not be ccontinued base on whether the second book is available.
Haidji's writing style is unique, to say the least. Yes, she is a writer, but she is also an artist and her writing has a style I have never before encountered. Not only do you get an amazing story, but you get a story that is told in a beautiful, lyrical fashion. Her words paint beautiful pictures in your mind, sometimes these pictures have stories of their own.
In this we read a story set in the near future. A new game has become crazy popular. In this game the participants know they will most likely not come out alive. Sound like The Hunger Games, it has some similarities, but don't go into this expecting a readalike.
And the candidates jumoed, all at the same time, still hearing the echo of the bell's sounding, mas the Hare Krishna mantra started again.
In their homes, in front of the TV, holding their their mobile devices,and even in the Stadium, people jumped, standing up, caught in the adrenaline rush of the moment, as the bell rang out.
Free falling bodies. After twenty meter free fall, some wires broke, and the bodies continued down, falling on the Stadium ground, where dumb screams where muffled by the sound of the Hare Krishna mantra.
This was ok. I really liked the different kinds of vampires, some could shift into animals also, others to smoke, and their were some snobby ones who thought they were better because of their pure blood lineage, mixed blood vamps are considered mutts of a sort. The characters are good too. I really liked some of them, but felt at times especially that they were flat. The writing is decent at best, but I have read one book further along and know that this author can do better than she did with this one. If the second book is available in will probably read it, if not no tears will be she'd and it will go to the tbr. I still have no clue why I keep a tbr shelf, I rarely choose books off of it.
More like three and a half.
Dinosaurs, who the shell would have expected this to be a decent read? Not me, but I was pretty entertained, mainly because I like the world in which this is set.
I like that this actually gives on-site into the bad guys world too, reminds of how Ward jumps between the Brotherhood part of the story and the Omega part of the story. The writing was pretty solid and the story didn't suffer from many, or any that I can remember, blah moments where the story just becomes filler. Lots of action going on, lots of romance scenes. The only thing that was a bit of a downer was that I didn't have much like for the main characters, not they are badly written, I just didn't much like them.
This one had moments of wonderful, but it also had moments that annoyed me. I liked the couple and think they are a good match. I like how all the side stories are progressing promising possible greatness to come. I am really curious about Sybil and Maura, they were trapped in children's bodies for years but circumstances have made them grow up physically.
On to the next book, I have no clue what couple is next but have my fingers crossed for Joseph, Sybil, or Tynan.
Great start to a series. This has a few different types of characters that are all dependant on each other. Theain characters are sentinels. They have this tree tattoo that represents there life. When all the leaves fall their life is done. In order for them to not die they must find their female counterpart, not an easy feat because it is believed that there are not many, if any left to be found. Then Helen pops up.
Corny romance, first series world building, alpha males, and decent fighting action scenes. Book two is better, glad I continued with this.
This is book two inn The Sentinel Wars series. It is paranormal romance. This one is slightly better than the first book and has opened the world in which this is set up so much. There are many ways for this to grow.
There are to more Theronian females found in this, actually three in a way. One is the main female lead, the other is her sick sister. The sick sister is more intriguing toe the than the main character. She is a mystery and the hurdles she will have to overcome will be amazing. The male in which I think she will be with is the tortured soul type and has already given up hope for his own happy ending. There is also another character that was introduced that really caught my attention. He was injured in battle and is now paralyzed, he too has given up hope. He has decided that he would rather die than live on the way he is and is slowly starving himself to death.
I am really enjoying this. The sex scenes are pretty bad. There is the whole “I must hold back feomy true urges so I don't break her” sex going on... MAJOR EYE ROLLS! Also has the “I want you but am too stupid to just admit it” thing going on too... MY EUES ARE IN A PERMAMENT EYE ROLL. That being said, there are some really great things going on too. I love the dialogue in this at times. I also really enjoy how this author writes the fight scenes and how her characters are really starting to develope. I have hopes for this series as a whole, the beginning is very well set up
I really liked this. The world is complex and not cookie cutter like so many other paranormal novels. The romance wasn't smutty, which I liked even though I usually go for books that are have very graphic sex in them. I do wish that it wasn't first person, but I can overlook that because of how well written it is. I always shied away from Ilona Andrews for some reason. So glad I decided to give this series a chance. On to book two if it is available on my libraries digital site. It was yesterday, fingers crossed.
This is good. There is time travel, vampires, witches. I really liked the parts where Brennan was figuring out her new world, but I wish there would have been more of them. This is well written. Considering this is the first in a series I am surprised at how well it flowed and how little world dumping there was. Will continue series.
This is good. I really, really like this. I didn't read the first in this series, but am definitely going to now.
The main couple in this is a shifter and a magically made vampire. The vamp is like no other that walks the earth. Her creation was not ordinary. She was killed while human and brought back by the magic of Luke, who is basically the devil. He rules the dark, bad creatures. The vamp and the shifter go their separate ways for a while by means of the vamp running away. She can't accept who she has become. While running away she is captured by someone who wants to use her for their own sadistic purposes. The shifter saves her. Their path to love is one filled with hiccups, explosions, bullets, and many other hurdles.
Besides the main creature there are so many other breeds of characters in this. We see an angel, a muse, a witch, and more. With all these characters I hope this series will grow. I can't wait to continue, but first some back tracking.
This reminds me of Immortals After Dark meets Midnight Breeds, both are favorite series of mine.

I love Cole's Immortals After Dark series. I am a bit put off that this is not a new story for the series. It is the first one, “The Warlord Wants Forever.” It did have a rewrite though, but the story is as I remember, but a bit better written. One less star for not being brand spanking new.
Ione is an author I have just recently read. Though I did find out that I did read a few books from her a while ago. This is a good addition to her MoonBound Clan Vampires. This helped to push me towards continuing with her books. So far I have a meh feeling most of what I have read, but I really liked this one. She write vampire differently than what I have experienced from others.
I am really liking that Showalter's contribution to this has brought a new series, rather spinoff, to my attention. Otherworld Assassins is very close to the top of my to read pile. I love this author.
This is a good anthology for anyone wanting to find new paranormal romance authors to read. Though I find it hard to imagine that fans of the genre have not yet tried them out, they are big names.
I want to start by drawing your attention to the beautiful cover of this book. It should have been obvious to me that it is a clever representation of a females genitalia, but it wasn't. I had one of those “aha!” moments while chatting with a fellow Bookliker. I feel I need to give props to whoever designed this!
Sarah Barmack is did an amazing job with this look into female sexuality. In the blurb to this this:
Closer reveals how woman are reshaping the their sexuality today in wild, irrepressible ways; nude meetings, how-to apps, trans-friendly porn, therapeutic vulva massage, hour-long orgasms and public clit-rubbing demonstrations - and redefining female sexuality on its own terms.
This was eye opening to say the least. I agree with so much of what is in this book. This is a good read for woman who want to feel liberated about their sexuality. Just think how better sated we would all be if we just voiced our wants and needs. I already do this and have been for some time. I remember how embarrassed I was the first time I explained to my husband what exactly I wanted, but in the end it helped so much.
I am going to start this review by offering some personal information. I am a recovering opiate addict with between six and seven years of sobriety. My own addiction started with a prescription for methadone from a doctor who said, “Don't worry, it's not addictive.” About a year later I found out I was pregnant and stopped taking them. My legs crawled, I had tremors, threw up everything that went in my stomach... I felt like I was dying. I went to the E.R. and the doctor told me it was food poisoning. After the hospital I went to fill a prescription for stomach medication. On the table was a pamphlet for addiction. On the cover was a picture of the same methadone I had been prescribed. That's how I figured out I was addicted to opiate pain killers.
In this book the author explains how both doctors and patients have both contributed to the opiate addiction epidemic. This doesn't point fingers to cast blame, it conveys the circumstances that lead to what is now happening. There are also section that tell the stories of people who have lived as an addict. I found the information in this to be accurate to what I was already aware of, and also learned some new things. It is impressive when I learn something new about addiction, I have read and absorbed a lot of information concerning the topic. I am impressed with the way the author made sure to be respectful in the way she worded the content.
This is a good read for anyone. I see people all the time making uneducated comments and forming opinions based on either bad information or stereotyping. I don't blame my addiction on anyone, but had certain contributing factors been removed, I am fairly positive that my life would have been different. It is nice to see things that I have thought and voiced in the past be supported and backed up.

This has some really great designs to color. They are very unique. They, as the title suggests, are tattoo like in design. My favorite is a picture of a skeletal like bride and groom with the words “eternal love.” I could see so many of the coloring pictures used as a tattoo design.
This is of nice quality. It has just a little shy of 40 designs to color. My colored pencils, Prismacolor, work really well on the think paper. I imagine that this would work well with markers, gel pens, or whatever anyone would like to use. The pages are serrated and easily tear from the book for singular display. This also makes it nice so I can xerox a “practice copy” before making final decisions on color choices. The paper is bright white. The cover is gorgeous. The picture really pops and catches your eye. I also feel that I should applaud the use of a matte background for the cover choice. I really didn't imagine that it would ever even matter, but it makes it very easy to hold with no slipping like I get with so many other coloring books I have.
I never thought I would rate one of Kenyon's books below three stars. While this wasn't horrible, it just wasn't what I expect from her.
In all, or most, of the dark hunter books there has been great character development. I really felt as if the characters could have been real living people. Not this one. There was a lack of passion, personality, and individuality that this author normally aces in every book. The humor that these characters normally have was missing too.
The world that these books are set in is extremely complex. Kenyon normally conveys it in a way where it is expanding not just dumped all at once. There is a lot of world dumping in this. Some of it is told through dialogue, and not in a good way. It felt at times like the characters were reading from textbook or something. Does that make sense?
Parts of this confused me. There were characters that I either don't remember, or maybe new to the stories.
I feel this was wrote to expand the amount of characters and create a way for this series to continue to grow. After as many books that there is, mid twenties I think, Kenyon is running out of ways for the stories to grow. I fear that the world I have grown to love is starting to become something else. Hopefully there is good to come, but it will amaze me if it does. I miss the old dark hunters that patrolled the streets of New Orleans. The ones who fought the bad vampires.
If you read this series I think this is a crucial book that must be read in order to continue what is to come. Just be prepared to be confused. If I didn't see the cover, I would probably think this was fanfic. If this is a new series to you, this is not a good book to start with. Go to the beginning.
I had fun reading this. Molly Harper's humorous paranormal romance are some of my favorite “comfort” reads. This one had the humor I expect, steamy romance, crazy vamps, funky shifters, and quirky humans.
In this we have Anna and Finn. Finn is a shady con man, Anna works with old books about paranormal. She and Finn are on a plane that doesn't make it to its destination. They end trekking through a forest while being chased by a few normal people and some not so normal people. Anna is a germaphobe, so the setting isn't ideal for her. She is nervous about Finn putting her on the menu. Finn is fascinated by Anna.
Recommended to anyone who has followed this series. If you are a newbie to these books it may be better to start from the beginning, but I believe that this could be okay as a standalone. There are some cameo appearances from some previous characters. Some of the “fun” may be missed if you haven't read their books.
Normally when I win a book on Goodreads I read and review it rather quickly. This didn't take me a while to read, I just had to wait for my mailbox robbing best friend to finish it first. She was getting my mail for me at the time this was delivered, saw that it was a book (she reads even more than I do), opened it, and had to read it. She loved it. For me it was good, but not the same love she had, but I think part of this is due to her love of all things rock and roll. At 34 she is still a groupie for husband's band, ran naked at the last Ozzfest.
This is the second book in what will be a trilogy. I do feel that I may have liked this more had I read the first as it is a continuation of the first. This follows “Writerman,” a young man obsessed with all things rock and roll. This is a coming of age story not for teens due to the content; drug and alcohol use.
This story is almost chaotic at times the way it bounces around, but I think this is intentional to help with the overall feel of the book. The writing itself is solid, and no editing errors stood out to me.
Recommended to anyone who is curious, or wants a flashback of the 70's and it's rock and roll culture.
The first few sentence of this grabbed my attention immediately:
It was three o'clock in the morning in downtown Los Angeles when the officers got a glimpse of outstretched legs protruding from the shadows. Naked Legs. If it weren't for the buzzing, blinking street lamp catching their attention, the patrol cops would have driven right by.
This follows Dr. David Edminson, an unconventional “street psychologist” who keeps night shift hours, and works from the back of a van in an attempt to help individuals who otherwise wouldn't seek the mental help they need. His clientele ranges from poverty stricken drug addicts to the upper crust, wealthy. The author is a Doctor of Psychology and the book greatly benefits from this, there are none of those overdone “seeing the shrink” scenes that I have often encountered in other books.
David ends up searching for a serial killer who is targeting prostitutes and strippers. His own life is jolted by some of the things he discovers.
This is well written, and kept my attention throughout. I do feel it important to add that after a month between reading parts of this that the story stayed fresh in my head and I was able to continue where I left off without having to backtrack. The author does an especially amazing job of conveying the setting of the story. There is an obvious familiarity there. I love the gritty feel that this story has. If my life hadn't gotten in the way I could have very easily finished this in a couple of hours, but I read fast.
This is incredibly well written. The beginning of the book was good, but no where near as good as the second part. Some of this is set in “present day,” some a dystopian setting, ad some in the past/present. This is mainly a romance, but isn't super sappy. The rest of the story isn't just there for filler like so many other books in the genre.
This is the start of what will be the Between Two Evils series. I was surprised to find out that this is the authors first book, no way does the book reflect reflect this. I am also super curious as to where the author will next take this series. Fingers crossed that book two will be as good, and that I have found an author to add to my must read list.
I this book we have two narrators. They are both unhappy with their social lives, especially with the love/sex part. There has been a scientific breakthrough that has proven that insulin can change a persons sexual orientation, it is called “mouse” because the study was confirmed with lab mice. The first narrator we meet is not named, I think. She is a young, single mother who has not much of a social life. This is to be expected after she had a child while they were off going to college, getting jobs, etc. The father of her child is useless, the first part of her story is about her relationship with him and where it went wrong. The second narrator is a thirty year old virgin named John. John is one of those guys who doesn't have any self confidence and hides behind jokes, excuses, etc. He feels women are just not attracted to him due to his outward appearance; too fat, too plain, too nice. He thinks women secretly just want a bad boy. He decides to experiment with mouse to see if he has more luck with men than with women.
This is well written. I did have to backtrack a few times to figure out who was telling the story, but other than that the story flowed nicely and really kept my attention. I feel the length of this book is perfect for the story, 136 pages.
This book brought a lot of questions to mind. Would people, not only homosexual, change their sexual preference if they could? Is it possible to control this in a medical way? How would the public react to a scientific find such as “mouse?” And so much more.
