This is my third overly femaley emotional book in a row! (Another Chamberlain and before that, a Tricia Creswell). What’s happening to me? These historicized books pick out anti-pc behavior of the past to make us justly angry, and yet… laying on the injustice really thick in this half-anachronistic way also makes it a little of a sleazy read.

Part one and two of this book are great. Well researched, too. The third part is drawn out and boring and not convincing. The problem hinges on the plot. There is no way to make that really work in the end so she needs a sort of magical solution. It’s a first novel though. Hopefully she gets better editors for her next book.
