Same nice cast, less humorous, a simpler book than # 1. Dialogue a little less original, more repetition.

Funny, charming, a great cast of characters. Great pace.

Abandoned halfway. The age of innocence is a far better book. I lost interest, none of the characters felt real.

Fantastically strong writing. Dark.

Disappointing. The first chapter promises a lot, but it soon becomes incromprehensible who is who and what are their roles in the story. I even wonder what the story really is about. Confusing.

To me the book feels like an opportunity lost.

Abandoned. Long winded.

Interesting, not earth shattering.

A surprising structure, a sound plot, more psychologycal than thriller. Warm characters, easy pace. Nothing noir about it. A perfect read in my book.

Audiobook, very well performed by Paul Sparks. I liked the characters in this unlikely tale. The ending was unnecessarily drawn out and writing seems to be the magic solution to trauma. Other than that, a fine book. Liked his clipped writing style.

4,5 stars. Well written, fast paced. It just lacks a tiny little something to make it more than a mere thriller.

Well written, but I did not like the story much.

4,5 stars really. I liked everything about it: the cast of characters, the plot, the main relationships. 5 stars is for stunning books, though. This book is great, but not stunning.

Storywise not too interesting. Feels like an in between book. Hopefully it will pick up in the next sequel.

A simple story, elegantly plotted, keeps you wanting to read on. It has one magical element, but it is also about families and healing. A very nice read.

Thriller. A good read, with not much substance in the way of characters or background or scenery or history or whatever.

Unfortunately, this book does not dig very deep. It's anecdotal and does not surprise.

Sound info, but old for 2022.

Rather drawn out, not very believable, and a little repeteve (hashing out the same background details in each book), yet the beautiful performance outweighs all that. (By Caroline Lennon). Often I just like listening to a beautiful voice. I do like the silliness and fairytale quality, on the other hand. So yeah.

A very unpleasant atmosphere. Stopped reading at 30%.

A little drawn out, but a nice cast of characters. A friendly book. I'll try another one.

Good police cozy. Nice cast of chatacters.

Hm...this is a very disappointing story. A weird, unsatisfying outcome and not much happening before that, either. Seems to me Harris was in a bit of a rut when she wrote it.

A good old feelgood love story.

A great writing voice, an intricate plot, yet the book felt a little long. Well, at least 25% too long. And in the end Hammer took a loooong time to explain the plot.

It was a little lobsided too, emotionally. Basically, the protagonist is not a very nice guy, and the main relationship he tries to form never really gets off the ground.

So - this is an action packed book that starts to disappoint somewhat after the first half.
