Just a huge nope!
Sorry, but a story about school shootings? Do we really have to read about them in fictional books?
I mean, it's a problem in the real world already and this book just grossed me out from start to finish.
I know we need to talk about it since shootings like this happen here and there sometimes pretty often, but come on.
The story could have been way better if the apparent suicide wasn't inflicted because he's a shooter and killed others. That was just too much
On Fire by Nancy Holder is a captivating continuation of the Teen Wolf series that explores the depths of loyalty, bravery, and trust among the characters we have grown to love. Through the whirlwind of action, suspense, and heartwarming moments, this book takes readers on an intense journey that will leave them breathless and longing for more.
The story picks up immediately from the last episode of season three, where Scott, Stiles, and Allison have just defeated the Nogitsune. However, their victory is short-lived as a new threat arises in the form of a monstrous creature that seems to be targeting the students of Beacon Hills High School. As the pack struggles to uncover the truth behind these attacks, they must also deal with personal demons, old and new, that threaten to tear them apart from the inside.
What makes On Fire such an outstanding novel is its ability to balance an intricate plot with the development of its characters. Each chapter reveals new revelations and layers of complexity to the plot, but at the same time, each character is given ample time to grow and reflect on their own struggles. Holder does a fantastic job of weaving these two elements together, creating a tale that is both exciting and emotionally charged.
One of the highlights of this book is its exploration of Lydia Martin's character. Throughout the series, Lydia has been portrayed as a popular and confident girl, but in On Fire, we see a more vulnerable side to her as she struggles to come to terms with her latent powers. Holder does an excellent job of portraying Lydia's fear and confusion, but also her strength and determination to overcome her struggles. Seeing Lydia's development in this book was undoubtedly one of the things that made it stand out.
The themes of loyalty and trust also play big roles in On Fire, as we see the pack grapple with their relationships with one another. Scott, in particular, finds himself torn between protecting his loved ones and doing what is right. The development of Scott's character in this book is fascinating as Holder shows us the cost of being a true leader. As Scott faces new challenges, we see him grow stronger and more confident in his decisions, even as they grow harder to make.
Another standout moment in On Fire is the reunion of Stiles and Malia. After being separated for several years, the two finally reconnect in the midst of all the chaos. Their relationship is honest and raw, and the chemistry between the two is palpable. Holder does an excellent job of balancing the drama and angst of their reunion with the humor and lightheartedness that is characteristic of the show.
The pacing of On Fire is another strong point. Each chapter is well-structured and keeps readers engaged throughout. The book never feels slow or drawn out, but at the same time, it never feels rushed or incomplete. Holder does an outstanding job of pacing the action and emotional moments carefully, creating a cohesive and satisfying reading experience.
In conclusion, On Fire by Nancy Holder is a fantastic continuation of the Teen Wolf series that captures the essence of the show while also taking it to new heights. The book's themes of loyalty, trust, and leadership, along with its compelling plot and dynamic character development, make it a must-read for fans of the series. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves Teen Wolf or is looking for an exciting and emotional read.
So far this book looks promising and it's giving me “The Reappearance of Rachel Price” vibes which I totally enjoyed by Holly Jackson.
It also gives vibes of “The Liars” by Sara Shepard (Audible book) which I also enjoyed, so I chose this book because it looked promising by containing similar themes like the other two I have been reading this year.
Will come back to edit this review once I'm done with this book
(Update October 5, 2024)
It took me about one day to read this book because I had a lot of time to read since it was raining and I was at home and had just about the right time to actually spend a lot of time with reading.
When I first noticed this book, I was intrigued by how the description sounded because as I wrote above, it reminded me of a few good books that I have read this year and really enjoyed it so that was the overall reason why I picked it up in the first place.
I was kind of shocked that the book wasn't written like an actual book, but was more written like a transcript for a TV show or movie, which is kind of hard to read and understand because it's not like a narrator is going to explain it all to you, but you have to kind of figure out how to treat it and who's who and all that stuff.
That was one reason I did not like about this book right when I started it because it made it pretty hard to read and focus on the main things inside the book .
However, the storyline reminded me of the book by Holly Jackson, a good girl guide to murder because it follows about the same plot, but in a different way, of course so that's one thing I liked about this book that it reminded me of a few others that I enjoyed and that it's kind of a murder mystery the reader is following along .
However, as I already said, I did not like the fact that it is written like a transcript because it was hard for me to read it and to figure out where I'm at, and who's talking now, but overall, the storyline, the plot and how the plot was written were pretty good so I give it four stars
DNF
Sadly, this book wasn't for me and I had a hard time reading it.
The whole storyline in the beginning was absurd, sometimes unknown words were used, making it hard to read and understand what the author meant by that.
This is the second time I tried to read this book and did not finish it since it was boring and I wasn't liking it at all.
Trotzdem volle Punktanzahl!
Nope.
I would officially title this one as the worst book of 2024, not bad that it took me till June to find it.
It just wasn‘t meant for me, doesn‘t mean that its actually bad at all.
I just dont like sciene fiction books and all the talk about robots and stuff like that.
Probably meant for certain readers and groups for certainly not for me.
Alright, this is the second time I have read this book, because the last time I did not finish it.
I don't know what to think about the third book, because although the characters are great, the writing is the same as in the last two books (lovely writing) I think the series was better with the first two books, rather than adding a third one. Felt like it was worn out, but just my opinion here.
Overall, still worth a shot and maybe I come back to the whole series one day to read it again, but for now I'm glad I'm done with all three books because this book really stretched for weeks
Re-reading this book because last time I dod not finish it.
I don't really have any high hopes for this because the last time I tried to read this book and its full series, I did not finish the first one because the story wasn't gripping. However, I'm giving it a second chance maybe I will like it now:)
