I wish I had liked this way more because I really liked the first two installments but this one didn't cut it for me. The writing is decent but not transcendent and so a lot hinges on the characters and story and be it the MMC or the FMC were endearing.

That was a fast DNF but when you know, you know. And while this had all the right elements, all the execution right from the start screamed that this was going to be a hard pass.

View

This just wasn't well written. It was too choppy, all over the place. I don't know if it moved too fast but the characters weren't compelling because of how poor the dialogues and monologues were.

View

I wish I had liked this more but the writing was a bit juvenile and the characterization lacking depth.

I'm sorry to be so harsh but this was really quite terrible. Probably one of the worst reads I've had in a while. There is a lot to be desired. Has this been reread after being written? Has anyone proof-read this? There are a lot of inconsistancies, a LOT of absurd situations that don't make sense. Unless it ends with the FMC having some serious psychological issues that make her narrative voice all over the place, this was an absolute disaster.

I really tried. I can't believe I went that far and couldn't make it to the end but this was honestly a bit of a disappointment/boring. LOVED the premise because 40 years old representation FTW and there was nothing intrinsically wrong with the book, with the plot, with the writing but the characterization, the relationships, they're not matching or spicing and it just feels overally... bland, I guess. I feel terrible because I think a lot of thought went into this but it really wasn't vibing.

Everything about this was way too much. Too sweet, too repetitive, too childish. The setting and premise was really nice though.

I think Jillian West just isn't for me. There's something in her writing that does not appeal to me. Everytime I read a synopsis and think “oh yeah, this is going to be good”, I just end up disappointed. The writing almost feels a bit juvenile, or too sweet?

Anyway, try it for yourself. I wouldn't want anyone not to give it a shot because of my preferences.

This took a turn really fast. I hated pretty much everything from the “omg she's so different from all the other girls” to the “I'll just get it on real quick with her roommate so I can be closer to her because I can't resist a challenge”.

Hard pass for me. Otherwise, the writing is decent and I have no complaint with the style.

View

Yeah, so the writing is all over the place. I have some tolerance if I get pulled in the story but this was just a bit too sloppy for my taste.

View

I wish I had appreciated this more. I can't say it as badly written as I've read a lot worse and I'm generally not squicked out by age gap (au contraire) but this just felt too fast to feel anything else but wrong especially considering that both adult makes knew her as a kid.

View

While I read the first three books which was a feat in itself, this is where I stopped and drew the line.

View

Everyone was just too weird. It was hard getting invested and I often have no trouble with age gap relationship but this went too far in the “me and my brothers like no one” to have two of them completely smitten in an hour and the last one being all hot and cold and weird. Run girl, run.

View

I had high hopes for this and I can't say that it was terrible but I think that there are aspects of the narration that are not plotted enough and makes the entire thing a bit convulated. When it comes to the three boys, the book needed more time to flesh them out before trying to dive in because even 100 pages in, I had trouble identifying who was who and remembering who was how and why.

View

I might be feeling a little unfair towards that book so I won't expand too much on why I didn't like it. Let's just say that both characters and the premise and the first 50 pages were a little rough to get through so I figured that I'd cut my losses early.

I was pumped for this. Blind girl, prison setting.. but I didn't care for the overall vibe of the book. The character is blind but can see through other persons' eyes so it's a great way to avoid her blindness, which from a narrative point of view would have been interesting. She's also very “pure” and the MMC are all crazy about her after one second and there's like barely any tension in the first 89 pages. We, bad boys, we, like you. I know it's probably the turn the author wanted to go for, but it just felt very “other girls are whores and you're perfect”. All the sexist tropes can be found here.

If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all.

I know it's not a lot of pages to dnf this but when the book opens with “My dick pounds in and out”, “I've been at this frty five minutes” and “maybe it's the fact that this pussy is getting drier than the Sahara desert”, you know it's time to quit.

View

I was really pumped about this because single woman raising kids, second chance romance, teenage love that got stolen away, DRAGON SHIFTERS, but this wasn't as polished as I'd hoped. It was a little too corny, a little too all over the place. I think that too many things were happening at once and the narration suffered from it.

View

I'm really peeved that I'm stopping so far in these books but I also really force myself to get through so at one point I'm just annoyed and enough is enough. This is like YA tries to be sexy and charming and it's just not working for me.

I heard a lot about this. Some loved it, some hated it. I'm definitely in the category of people that weren't convinced. I love my smut and this had the bestest idea ever for a smutty book but the characterization was very poor. So poor it was taking me out of the story all the time. How do you connect with characters when they are all over the place. Besides, the smut wasn't so great as far as I could read so you know.... not much to save from this.

I tried all four books in this series and could not finish one of them. I like dark romance, I like morally grey, I can even like the bad guy gets the girl trope but this was just unhinged and way too stalkerish for my tastes.
