Copy/paste from my book 1 review : I was so pleasantly surprised by this find. I often think that most sci fi erotica novels have to be somewhat lame but this universe was interesting, detailed, the characters were endearing. This has some serious macho vibes but you know what, it kinda worked. So yes, be warned, the way this universe treats its female characters is appaling, the way the heroes often treat the heroine is somewhat appaling, this has dubious consent all over and the dirty mouth is almost too much at time BUT it still works.
I like wild, I like dirty. I can even like wrong and dark(Hello, Royals of Fortsyth University) but this was so... almost misogynistic? While trying to tell you it isn't. I'm not sure why it works in some books and it didn't here but it's just not believeable how dark and cool those characters all are.
Look, this needs major editing. Major major editing. If it had some, this could be an actual workable interesting story with endearing characters. As it is, there are really big issues in continuity, annoying repetitions, complete confusions in the characters and actions.
I'm not trying to be a downer, because I normally can tolerate some editing issues, but this just should not have gone out like that.
I'm very ambivalent when it comes to Lexie Quinn. I loved her first Sin City Omega book but this, while I read it entirely, felt poorly written. Or maybe there weren't as many original ideas as she had for her Sin City omega book and thus I had nothing to distract me so the characters felt flat.? I don't know for sure, but it sure felt a bit like a disappointment.
Ugh, I'm so mad. I didn't love the first installment but the synopsis + the first few pages (all the way to the first sex scene between the FMC and one of the MMC) gave me SUCH hope. It was hot hot hot.
And then it fizzled out. The author keeps trying to go for complexity in her characters but honestly does not, at this point, have what it takes in terms of storywriting/telling to pull it off. She has other strengths obviously but not those. I feel like an ass for writing this but I need to remember not to give a book of hers another shot because I don't want to be the asshole that keeps reading and handing out bad reviews.
Her characters are all over the place, the connection between the FMC and the MMC is just not fleshed out and believable. Nothing really quite works.
This was definitely my least favourite of the bunch. It was also the one I was most excited about because the potential for spice was up there but honestly, apart from one MC, I cannot for the life of me understand the connection of the FMC to the other men. The writing felt really weak in this story.

I swear, these just get better and better. I LOVE my BDSM but I also really love how real the struggle is in Roni Loren's book. These aren't ready made submissive and I feel like I totally relate with those aspects. Cela is a working girl, she's still a girl that hasn't found her voice between her family and her studying and so, her journey to BDSM and Foster is as powerful as it can get.
I got into this because of the summary, it started out okay but honestly, it didn't grab me at all. I found the conflict between the characters to have a valid base but the way the FMC and one of the MMC went about it seemed ridiculous at one point.
I know there was supposed to be some icky factor to the whole relationship but it never seemed so huge that it would have created such a mess. The storytelling was all over the place and so the characters, their feelings and their actions were just all over the place too.
A disappointment, for sure.
The writing was okay and I really appreciate the basis for this series so I will try the others out but I also was a little disappointed.
Both characters had some annoying personality traits that were not given the space to run the way they should have. So instead of building up the relationship to something beautiful, dramatic and powerful, everything just seemed rushed and superficial instead. You get to know the characters but they don't develop. Even when they do, they feel static. Thus, their connection isn't really believable. It's said and it's shown but it's not felt.
It's a bit sad honestly because disabilities in a main character in romance books are rare and I think it's great that an author tackles that issue by showing all the challenges that come with being disabled while also showing that life can carry on.
I appreciated the subtleties of the characters in their portrayal. I liked that most characters had nuances and that Nora's trauma did not disappear overnight. The writing was a bit lacking and did not convey the depth this story could have reached but considering the grasp on the characters the author had, I'm hopeful that as H. Monroe writes on, she'll polish her writing to honor the ideas she has. Because this was already somewhat powerful so I can only imagine what it'll be like when she reaches her potential.
The disappointment is real. I already thought Knot your Average Beta was a letdown from Knot Here for you, but this was downright terrible. Yet again, some aspects were really interesting at first. Namely, I really liked that it wasn't just about adding Sorrel to a pack but Gage too as it changes from the usual dynamics of a complete pack meeting a new person. However, the writing was almost as bland as the characters. The interactions were ridiculous, the various personalities were as one dimensional as is possible and the chemistry was terribly lacking.
This, unfortunately, tipped Tana Rose definitely in the no read zone for me.
I wish I had loved this more but there were a lot of irking aspect. It's fairly easy to see where this is going early on so there's no mystery there. I hated the use of “he” and “him” at first. It did the story no favour because the mystery just wasn't there.
Overall, there was an interesting idea which had a really poor execution from the author
I liked this installement a tad more than the first one. I think it had more action paced and therefore the sweetness took a slight step back. Obviously, the interactions between the heroine and the male characters were still too much but I handled it better because the pace was definitely better. It also made me really interested in Calla's story so it did its job and intrigued me enough to continue looking out for this series.
