I’ve only ever read one other Minka Kent book and that book didn’t disappoint, this one didn’t either. This book is told from Wren and Nicolette’s POV, both unknown to each other until later on in the book. From the very beginning I disliked Nicolette’s husband, and it was easy for me to suspect him of A LOT of things, some that he had nothing to do with. NOTHING… and I do mean NOTHING could’ve prepared me for the revelations or that ending. I felt so bad for Nicolette once we found out what her medical emergency had been and even worse for suspecting her husband of so much, he wasn’t guilty of. I was very glad that they got their happy ending. I for one love when I have to keep second guessing my predictions and I did that a lot throughout this story. It was short but it was so good, I simply couldn’t put it down.

First time reader of Emily Shacklette and I’m hoping to find a better book from her in the future. Though this was a cute read it wasn’t a favorite which sucks for me. The spice was spicing though, and Dottie was doing the damn thing and y’all… HE WHIMPERS!!!! That gets a bonus point. This book does go between the past and the present so keep that in mind. Chapters based on the past were labeled with the age of whose POV it was and the chapters that went back to the present weren’t labeled. I did like the ending and I loved the two epilogues that were included!

I won’t leave a rating for this book because I have mixed feelings about it, and I might do a reread. I’ve been trying to finish it since September… Anyways.

This book seemed like it had a lot going on, and I just couldn’t get stuck on it sadly. I will say Samantha better count her days, to do that to a woman that was GRAPED by your husband is despicable. Livie’s mom was a POS, disliked her the minute she was mentioned. Marie was such an angel; I wish there would’ve been more scenes with her. I loved how supportive Nix was of Livie during the trial of her GRAPIST. I loved that he was able to get the video of her assault as soon as they both found out about its existence. The ending was expected. Kind of, because what else could you expect from Jules (Nixon’s brother) and his dealings? I’ll have to reread this but for now, I would not recommend it.

What the hell is happening in this book?! Kali is legally still married to Dark but after he came home with a new girl and a baby, Kali refuses to stay married to him. She wants a divorce, and he is refusing to give her just that. I cannot stand Dark and no it is not because I want Kali with his father instead (though I do want her with his father instead). I hate him as much as Kali needs to hate him apparently because she still lets him hit. The nerve of that man to not only cheat on his wife, but to move his new girl and child two houses down from her and have her babysit (she loves the little girl but still!) … It's astronomical! He’s insane! Kali is better than me because I would’ve disappeared off the face of the earth. It really irks my soul that he refuses to give her the divorce she’s been asking for, that he keeps calling her “my wife”. I hated that the one hitting it (Kali’s Garden, while they were away for work) was Dark and not his father. The spice was great, and I just pretended it was Sunshine instead. Book 1 was overall entertaining despite the annoyance that is the ex. In the next book I need her in Sunshine’s bed, and not that PG-13 thing they had going on in this book!

Wow. I could not put this book down. It was too good. Honestly what’s there not to love about this. It was well written, very entertaining. It was weird but in such a good way. It’s a hot book that’s for sure. This has fairies, enemies to lovers, arranged marriage and O r g i e s in the woods. It kind of gave me True Blood vibes in a way, and lord knows I love that show. I definitely needed more scenes with the group, though the scenes we did get were enough to satisfy. It was so easy to love the characters, though there were times I wanted to reach in and smack a certain someone (*cough* lex *cough). I however was not prepared for Carter’s text after taking off to LA… AND WHAT WAS THAT ENDING?! A cliffhanger? Really? I need book two in my hands immediately.

Just like Midsummer, I ate this one up. I loved the banter, I loved the spice, and boy was it hot in there. I knew Carter hadn’t sent Lex and Ivy a text telling them that they needed space (at the end of midsummer) and Miri & Carter getting a text from Lex and Ivy just confirmed it. I couldn’t wait for all four of them to be together again but in the meantime, we had Carter and Miri to satisfy our dirty little needs. For people that got married they sure acted like they were only doing it to be with Lex and Ivy, they both had me screaming “JUST ACCEPT THAT Y’ALL LOVE EACH OTHER DAMN IT.”

Ivy was so stubborn, wanting to get their gift taken back but why take it back when it’s what brought all four of them together during midsummer? All she had to do was enjoy her husbands and her wife but no she decided that she wanted to investigate and go into the woods, Miri should’ve listened to her gut and stayed away from the woods. Carter should’ve listened to Lex when he said Poppy was not their responsibility. I for one think the group should’ve left Poppy in the woods to fend for herself. A part of me feels like the King was being portrayed to be the evil one but what if the Queen is the evil one and the King is just trying to stop her? At the same time, I feel like both the King and Queen played all four of them.

“Telepathic mind trick,” 𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐝, 𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐩 𝐚 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐮𝐬. “Your droids are not here.” - Ivy

When I tell you that I spent five minutes laughing at this line after I figured out the reference (I’m not into Star Wars but my partner is) I’m not joking. Carter going “close enough” had me cackling because boy no she wasn’t lmao.

With the ending we got, I was left with so many questions, was Poppy sent with the group to betray them? What does Carter’s sister have to do with anything? Were Miri’s memories real or just the fairy king messing with her? What if (and this is a big IF) Smythe is Poppy’s father? I’m ready for the third book, I need my answers.

I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE! Emory did it once again, another favorite couple. I absolutely loved Lincoln and West BUT Kai & Sen hold that number one spot. West was hilarious and so me when it came to insects. Lincoln was just a cutie; he didn’t even try to hide his attraction for very long lol. I loved West’s energy, but we already knew that from the last book. I was happy to see Kai’s dad being included for their dinner and home tour, it’s always great to see him participating with the group despite him not exactly remembering that they’re all grown and off to college. I’m curious about Willow and Rick though, I’m kind of hoping we get a book for them.

Sen finding West after his fight with Willow was hilarious, Sen just couldn’t let the man sing his sorrows away without saying he sounded like a cat in labor LMAO. Poor West just needed some love, and Lincoln just seemed the perfect fit for him. I just loved the whole book, especially the epilogue!

“𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐚 𝐦𝐚𝐧’𝐬 𝐬𝐞𝐱𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐮𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐮𝐜𝐤 𝐡𝐢𝐦. 𝐒𝐨, 𝐧𝐨, 𝐰𝐞’𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭.”

You tell her West! How is she wanting to bang you but complaining about Kai & Lincoln being gay??? Make it make sense.

West was valid, because if a cockroach fell on my face while I’m trying to sleep, I’d burn the whole house down to the ground lmao.

I LOVED THIS! Robbie might just be in my top 5 book boyfriends and he might’ve gotten that spot by just getting my girl Fran some chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream—the ice cream and taking care of her when her PCOS flared up. He’s just the cutest (though there were times I got irritated with his behind) and we all love a protective boyfriend. Tadd and his buddies irked my soul, so did Tony apart from them I loved the rest of the side characters. This book is well written and it’s easy to read. If you’re into fake dating and hockey romances this is definitely a great read for you.

HELLO!!!! I. ATE. THIS. BOOK. UP! It gave me Harley Quinn & the Joker vibes, and I was living for it. She’s a student at Michigan State studying Psychology wanting to understand why that tragic night happened. She wants to understand and forgive to move on (while also getting revenge) so she decides to do her thesis on the man that massacred her family on her sixteenth birthday only she’s not ready to discover what caused the Devil of Harper Pointe to murder her father, brother and her uncle. I loved almost every minute of this book except when Ethan was involved. He was a real piece of work, and he couldn’t have been disposed of quick enough for me. I loved being able to put two and two together as the FMC discovered the truth about her father’s company and what they were really doing. The twists and turns in this book had me at the edge of my seat and chapter 30 almost had me throwing my tablet out the window. Eve’s uncle is an AH, and I can’t wait to find out what happens to him in the second book.

This is a great read and I 100% recommend this to my dark romance girlies.

Holy HOT FICTIONAL men! Yes men, there’s three of them. Asher—the FBI agent, Zane—the detective, and Rio—the lawyer. Rio reminded me of (do I really have to tell you?), Rio from Good Girls with the “mama” pet name *hot*. That is my weakness. But Rio was also the funniest out of all of them so my favorite is definitely him.

This book follows Spencer, she is on the run from her abusive ex fiance. She now owns a pottery business and is trying to live her life in hiding, always looking over her shoulder, keeping herself in shape because she refuses to allow herself to become a victim—again. But it was only a matter of time before her ex caught up to her. This time though she is a stubborn one she was not alone, she had the boys to protect her from everything, including their own peers. I loved how obsessed and protective they were and at times I liked how stubborn she was (not all the time). Sometimes I just wanted to slap her silly, like girl these are hot men all wanting to protect but also DEVOUR you and you’re restraining yourself, be so foreal! I was happy with her decision at the end, because I was going to be mad if homegirl up and left the boys. This was a great read and series start but the book does end on a cliffhanger so be aware of that when you pick it up.

This book reminds me of “My Fault” minus the racing aspect of it but it has the stepbrother, trauma/scar caused by her father and kidnapping at the hands of her father and the MMC’s rival thing going on. This book is very fast-paced taking place in a college. The MMC is the captain of the swim team and he has set his eyes on the new girl Fallon. He quickly becomes obsessed with her and terrorizes her because according to him, he’s the only one that can bully or put a hand on her. I love a stepbrother romance but this book went a bit too fast for me. Despite the book being as fast-paced as it was, it was still an okay read.
