I'm crying OMG. I knew I was going to love Nesta, but OMG. I don't know how Sarah J. Maas was able to put such a realistic story of pain, resilience and personal growth in these pages. I think anyone can resonate with this story on some level. I have no words.
ALSO, I LOVE THE VALKYRIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sometimes you read a book, and you just realise the author had to be a writer. Because how could you live with such beautiful prose inside you and not write them down. The further I got into the book, the more I came to connect to and understand the characters. At the same time, the characters come to understand more about themselves and each other, and there is a connection in this. Every Sentence is quotable and without knowing who said it, you can make an educated guess.
I really liked how the sea creatures/concepts were related to the journey of self discovery of a queer woman. The refreshing layout made you think about how everything in the chapter worked together, and with that also how you relate to these concepts. I haven't read Dutch literature since high school and this was a refreshing start back into the world.
I am crying and trying to put my thoughts into words. Funnily enough I can't translate how this book made me feel. All I know is that I loved these characters, although they were flawed and complicated. I just loved the care for detail, history and feeling that was put in this book. Yeah I need to sleep now.
Give me a second to pull myself together ...
Oke, Tracy Deonn you are a poet! The way I want to remember every quote and the way these characters made me feel I have not felt many a time.
When I say that, this book kept surprising me in so many ways. I did not think I would feel so much, so many times, and you are now one of my favourite authors.
Experiencing this world through Bree's eyes is just such a vivid experience that I felt everything she did. The bonds she forms with her companions, but also her heritages, were made so beautifully and build upon Legendborn perfectly.
I cannot wait to read EVERY BOOK Tracy Deonn writes, because I know every single one of them will move me in some kind of way.
I really wanted to like this book, but it just did not provoke any emotions for me. I just wasn't invested. I did like the twists and turns, but I need to have some sort of connection to the characters. The main character told you that she was changing, but I honestly did not see her actions change that much, she always already seemed deviant and “different”.
