Definitely not a huge fan of this book. The main character, Advika, starts off being described as a strong willed, takes no bull woman but then flips completely because a famous producer falls in love with her? This story could have been so much more but sadly just fell so flat for me.
This was recommended by a book club member and I was not disappointed. I am a Disney fan and loved how Katee Robert took Jasmine's story and created one badass woman who was done taking crap from the men in her life. My only qualm with this story was it felt very rushed at the end but the ending was extremely satisfying!
What a beautiful story! I was able to empathize with Elsa, a mom who just wants the absolute best for her family. This story was very reminiscent of The Grapes of Wrath and reading the plight of Americans during the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl was so sad.
Kristin Hannah is a beautiful writer and wraps your emotions in her stories! I highly recommend!
What a ride! I was skeptical about this book but finally gave it a go since it was spooky season. The idea of human consumption being the norm was crazy, the description of the slaughterhouse was a lot. If you're squeamish this is not the book for you. I was completely and utterly thrown by the ending, what a rollercoaster of emotions for the main character.
This was a book club read and I enjoyed it so very much. I love that each story was it's own but still intertwined with the others in subtle ways. I related to the story of Natsumi as I am a working mother. The librarian Ms. Komachi was my favorite and gave me Yoda vibes since she was so full of wisdom and made each character feel seen, heard, and made to feel comfortable. I recommend this book for anyone who maybe needs a break from their usual reads as a good pallet cleanser.
What a thrilling plot. I was very happy with the character development and the ending was so satisfying. Buddy Lee and Ike are a very unexpected duo but the bond of avenging their son's deaths is what makes their friendship bloom. Despite both characters having dark backgrounds and being extremely narrow minded at the beginning of the book by the end they have made as many amends as they can and learned acceptance. SA Cosby is a great writer, I'm looking forward to reading more of his books.
This book by far has the most action in the second half of the book than the ones before. I dragged my feet in the middle of this book but I understand that things had to happen that help Feyre and her clan when Hybern attacks. I have had very few books induce tears in me but this one had me crying three separate times!! I do not want to ruin anything but I will say there are so many elements to this story that kind of come full circle for so many characters we've met in the first two books.
I liked the plot of this story but there was a lot lacking. The characters of Diana and Daisy were believable but the storyline felt muddled and left a lot to be desired. I gave this book three stars because the plot was interesting, heartbreaking, and the setting was good. Overall though this definitely could have had a stronger ending.
trigger warning of sexual assault
This is my first official romantic fantasy book and I absolutely loved it. I attempted Crescent City but that was way too hard as an introduction to fantasy, this book however was amazing.
The setting of this book and all the descriptions we get is amazing, I am glad I read the physical copy I think the ebook would have been to difficult to toggle between when needed. The characters are great, Feyre reminds me so much of Katniss and I love that the men aren't the end all be all which I have tended to get so much of in the past with romance books.
This book definitely gave me Beauty and the Beast vibes and the relationship between Feyre and Tamlin was so cute. I am so intrigued by Rhysand and I know I'll get more of his character in the second book. Overall this book was a great starting point for this series and I cannot wait to delve into the second book.
Wonderful Plot Twists
Wow!! What a great story, I was shocked up until the very end. Freida McFadden is a genius!
Tricia and Ethan are newly married and have decided to go and see the estate of former author and psychiatrist Adrienne Hale. Upon their arrival a terrible blizzard strands them in the home where Tricia believes someone is squatting in. When Tricia finds a hidden door behind a bookcase filled with Dr. Hale's recordings of patient sessions she can't help but listen to the tapes. It turns out she has stumbled upon Dr. Hale's final days via these tapes!
I highly recommend this book, the plot twists alone are worth it. The characters are so well written and the setting is amazing.
What a roller coaster of emotions this book holds!
Ove is an individual that reminded me so much of my Apa, he will not deal with any incompetence or any rule breakers. The only thing that kept Ove going in life was his beautiful and caring Sonya.
In this story we get the love story that is Ove and Sonya along with Ove adjusting to life without her. When a new neighbor backs his trailer into Ove's mailbox that chance encounter sets Ove in a new direction to kindness.
I cried several times but the end was the most touching for me. I loved this book and will now watch the movie, which I hope stands up to this beautiful story.
DNF
I only got to chapter 3 and couldn't do it. I'm not uusally a romance reader but this one was not my cup of tea. The main characters had only met by chapter 3 twice and they already are planning on having Thanksgiving dinner together and watching a baby who was left with the male character as a couple. The male character has decided he's in love with her by this point because she looks cute in satin. I just can't, the forceful kisses and the uncomfortable innuendo that the female character has asked the male character not to hint at is ignored. I will call it quits here and move on.
What a cozy Hallmark with some spice book this was! I'm not a regular romance reader but this book fit so well for the holiday season!
Jeanie is new to Dream Harbor taking over her Aunt Dot's Pumpkin Spice Cafe. She has decided to restart her life in a more quaint setting than the hyper focused Boston she called home. When she stumbles, quite literally, into the town golden boy Logan her life seems to be looking up.
I just loved the good feel this book gave and the added spice! Definitely recommend for a quick read (too me almost a month as I am a work from home mom of four with my youngest being 7 months) or the need for a palate cleanser.
This book deserves five stars and was worth all the hype! I love when a book throws me for the biggest loop ever.
Alicia Berenson is found standing at the scene of her husbands murder and from that day on doesn't speak again. The entire book is told from the viewpoint of Alicia's new psychotherapist Theo and his tactics and research to get to the bottom of Alicia's husbands murder.
It's very rare I'm blown out of the water and left speechless with a ending but this one did it!! I did not see the twist coming at all, I had so many theories and not one was what happened. I highly recommend this book and here to say BookTok was right!
