It was a little long for me, but I continued and learned a lot. Stacey Abrams is truly a champion for democracy! Let's continue to have fight for fair elections and get people out to vote ~
Sooo close to being good. I wanted the complicated relationship, I loved seeing a human so obsessed with being in a relationship (his only identity) and slowly being turned into an obsessed dragon himself. I loved the kobold characters living under dragon rule or some of these kobolds wanting to revolt against it. The art and action sequences were loose and beautiful~~~
The ending is so disappointing because none of these characters were actually built up and the message lost. Everything was assumed or set up in a single comment. So, by the time it got to the end it wasn't good because they lost purpose/message...the drama wasn't unimpactful. I think this needed to be a bit longer, and these characters needed more interactions and moments to themselves- Especially the girl character...she's faces great challenges and simply accepted whatever. There was no strength, which i thought was weird because she was in her human form the entire time.
I think the ending would have been more dramatic if the human boy killed her dad and became the dragon and the dragon girl, not being able to recognize him any longer, stayed human. If you have two characters, both need to have a purpose for the end.
Also points lost to giving the mom dragon tits (they're reptiles) and incest with the dad. (thankfully didn't happen he died) Just felt weak.
The audiobook is read by Brendan Fraser and is an absolute delight. He has unique voices for everyone and even does sound effects sometimes! Serious, if you read this book I can not recommend the audiobook enough!
The book takes a bit to pick up, but it's a solid adventure with more talking about how to solve an issue instead of pure action or in the moment thinking. I really like that because it is a tale of adventure with some action, but all the characters are really clever or have something to bring to the table and its just really refreshing.
It's a longer story for a j-range read, but it was really nice to read.
I actually saw this come back into the library and it trigger my childhood memories of getting this book at a book fair. It was fun reading this again and remembering bits and pieces.
Solid read. I usually am the person to immediately say fuck you to a dad who cheats and has a secret family. BUT I guess I never considered family being family, these sisters find each other. This is about their journey and I especially like how it shows both sides of their lives.
The audiobook is nicely done too!
LeUyen Pham is an illustrator I really enjoy.
I thought this was wonderfully illustrated and a very meaningful story about the pandemic. I think it covers a lot of good and nice ways people hoped to help others, the fun families had to spend more time together, but also the hardships in households as well.
I think this is a very great story to connect too and I can imagine a lot of kids liking especially.
Sort of like the story of samson's hair, the more hair a witch has the more powerful they are...so cutting one's hair would be unimaginable.
That's out main character though...so let's gooo!!
I really enjoy the color pallet, design, and representation in this book. There's some political intrigue going on as well and I hope maybe the writing finds its footing to make it a smoother story. I look forward to the next volume.
I've read many fiance books and this one has the foundations of finance, but I find the layout of the information presented and tone prevents it from being any good. There's a ton of other books that will give you the information you need without being pompous and condescending. Additionally, both life and money have layers of complexity and this book would rather complain about them being in poverty being their fault than actually include resources and outreach that could help.
Listen, if you are picking up a finance book then they are already trying to improve. Stop kicking people down.
Don't let this book turn you off to finances, not everyone is like this. Pick up a few different books - try them for free at the library before you decide to buy.
This book is misleading, it's less about consumerism and shopping/hoarding more about a personal journey about her over indulgences, addictions, and general bad habits. This memoir wasn't for me, i'm sure it is better suited for people looking for comfort/similar journeys to get away from addictions and trying to ignore them on a more personal level.
I hope this is helpful for some people? If I had to rate this I would give it a 1 star.
It's amazing how a book can put a childlike perspective of a life that has been filled with some serious tragedy and hardship in a very explainable and hopeful way. Malala's life has been captured in this book with the importance of education, the magic of a pencil, and her ambition to help. Beautiful, perfect introduction to Malala's important impact.

When a town is overrun by goblins, Hershel is brave enough to stand up to them. These goblins hate Hanukkah and are tricked by traditions and Hanukkah celebrations each night. By the end Hershel must find a way to have the goblin king himself light the candles. Hershel teases the king and says it is too dark to see who he really is, one by one the candles light and the horrible presence of the king is coming to light. Is Hershel brave enough to keep it up the charade? Or will the goblin king catch on?
The illustrations are really unique, the goblins are comedic and gross, and most importantly this tale hits that sweet spot of creepy/winter holiday tale. It has a similar vibe to Christmas carol and based off the authors notes in the back that was the intention.

For me, getting into this book was difficult. Even though the first couple of chapters does have some great information, i just wasn't getting engaged in the book until a few chapters in. I enjoyed reading it until the last few chapters- then again, good info but I was loosing engagement.
Ultimately I would recommend this book to information professionals because it does have really interesting history, builds/ideas/inventions for info, and general humans being curious through the book that really increased my perspective and thinking.
Loved this, filled with amazing art, compelling story, and a dark tone fairy tale!A poor village girl with a face only her mother loves, accidentally frees a fairy and is granted a wish. She wishes for beauty and the fairy delivers...only this wish backfires as it brings out the terribleness in men's hearts. The beauty brings her nothing but hardship and riches.If only she had wished for respect, could things have gone differently? I think she wished for what we maybe all have wished for at some point, beauty. It really puts things in a perspective of values, if those could be wished for? Anyway, eventually we do see our beauty become more wise with inspiration from her daughter and does use the gift to the full potential at the nearing ends of her days. A somewhat late coming of age story with our main character being Emira a 20s (something?) working with herself and finding her footing in several ways. Navigating relationships and forward thinking to career in the end.
I'm really loving Emira, she is incredibly smart and kind. She seems very go with the flow and rolls with the punches, BUT she still has a courageous heart and thinks for herself! She takes the time to consider things and especially connects with the girl she babysits because she also shares curiosity and thoughtfulness.
Skip to Alix, feels like a try hard for feminism and wokeness. I feel like this is an example of a white woman who would vote for 45? I've read some people got attached to her, idk, as soon as she made a living off sending letters, children, and the shallowness of an influencer who has to pretend they live in new york still? She immediately was annoying to me and showed her true colors further in.
The writing was really well crafted, the audiobook was amazing and the dialog was genuine and a satisfying slow build to learn more about the characters and their story together. It kind of has a domestic racism feel, and you can see the conflict without doubt. Once you see it, you can pin point lots of events together.
Great book! I recommend!
