This book is so amazing I don't even know where to start.
I didn't know much about this sory going in, except that is was great, so I had high expectations and it surpassed them all.
This story is about family, love, finding yourself, growing up. It follows Jude and Noah, who are twins, and how their love for art ends up sliping up the family and how their jealousy is so strong they tear each other up froma young age.
But the book doesn't tell you all the story at first. It shows Noah's POV when they were 13-14 and jumps to Jude's POV when they're 16, every other chapter. Which the author does very well. I think we actually got a lot more out of the story because of this.
It's full of wonderful, heart melting metaphors that just takes you away from this world. How Noah just loves colors and painting so much, his POV chapters take you on another level. It is about jealousy and what it made to the twins, but it's also about redemption, forgiviness and sibling love.
I recommend this bookd so much. It really blew me away and the last few pages made me cry of joy.
This is the 2nd best book of the series, for me. Only behind ‘Messenger'. I never really got into ‘The Giver', but this book made me like the series a bit more. It's divided in 3 parts, the first part is interesting enough, kept me waiting for more and we understand a bit more of their society from the first book. The second part dragged a bit too much, but the third part was really moving and Lowry finally gave an ending to one of the books, and didn't leave us wondering.
I finally like the series now, because of this last book. But I still don't understand how The Giver was given any praise without these final pieces.
Even though I never played college sports, I could really relate to Kate's coming out story. Her writing is very touching and you can feel her struggles through it. The way both her parents and ‘friends' reacted to her truth are stilo real for a lot of people, so it's definitely worth a read for all lgbt readers.
Not as good as Anna and Lola, but lovely and adorable nonetheless. It's very different from the other 2, we definitely see a lot more of the couple relationship, and it doesn't end when they get together, it actually starts there. If you enjoyed the other 2, you'll definitely enjoy this one and the reunion scene.
