Possibly the best book I've read this year. It is haunting, genuinely disturbing and perversely graphic but its core philosophical exploration is one that will stick with me a long long time.
First in the 87th precinct series I've found a bit of a slog. Possibly just in a reading slump but didn't find this one as engaging and the plot was quite scattered
Can't decide if I enjoyed this or not. Loved the characters but it's very very much a first chapter that felt like it didn't really have a pay off of its own
Just can't seem to get on with this series. I'll give it one more book. I knew to get past the first as it's often said it's very very different than the rest - and it is - but still didn't love this. Possibly struggling with it as an audiobook so will try read the next one.
Absolutely loved this. Character first action thriller. Buddy and ike will be seared into my memory for a long time to come. Would make an incredible movie or tv show. Full of action. Full of emotion and full of wit n grit. Pure 5 star read. Couldn't put it down
Absolutely fantastic. Couldn't put it down. Great pace and a great sense of unease. I'm not sure I loved the ending but it didn't harm a solid 5 star rating
I'll be honest I found this exceptionally dull but I've heard the first book is very different from the others and wanted to push through it so I could get involved in the king multiverse. Who knows if it was worth the time
Phenomenal. A really unique post apocalyptic novel that's barely about the apocalypse itself and more about the connections that find their way through even the largest disasters.
Wow. Genuinely one of the creepiest books I've read and I thought I saw the twist coming but absolutely did not. Subtly unsettling without being gross or using cheap tricks. Will have to watch the movie as plemmons is perfect for the role of Jake
Didn't enjoy the core case as much as the others I've read but there is some great dialog and exchanges in here that made it for me. The dialog feels so real and often makes me laugh
