Excellent read, but way, way too long. At more than 1,000 pages in an awkward format (page size) it was really hard to read. It took a long time to get going but it's well written, interesting, and fun. Unfortunately it wrapped up pretty fast and in an anticlimactic way.

not much happened

Not very good, lots of long stupid dialog and introspection. Nothing much happened. Author clearly got greedy. Could have easily combined this material in the previous or following book in the series.

good ending, I think, for the series

Great story, well written, I enjoyed it immensely. And here are twelve more words to complete the review. Two more.

I read and loved all of her other books, but this one I just didn't. It took a looooong time to get organized and rolling and it just seemed to go on and on before I knew what was happening. The ending was very anticlimactic, with all the slow buildup I expected something much more interesting.

Fun, great story.

All I can really think to say is WOW. This is the third book of the author's that I read and so far they're all amazing. This one slightly connects to the previous book, some characters overlap, not the story. This book takes four separate stories and intricately weaves them together into a stunning conclusion. I freaking loved this book. I had no idea what it was about until the very end and that usually pretty annoying, but not here.

good story, but somewhat boring

Lots of typos in the book, clearly rushed out without a thorough edit. Writer clearly wanted one or more books out of this so deliberately droned on about politics and such to the point where nothing conclusive happens here. Disappointed.

Excellent piece of fiction; I love the way this author writes. Was very surprised with the way she tied in characters from Station eleven

Meh, too much politics for me. Wanted more history than detailed analysis of bill negotiations.

LOVED THIS STORY. I wish I could give it 6 stars. Masterfully written, excellent story development. I normally hate books that jump around between different character groups or different timelines but this book does both and I absolutely loved it.

Did not enjoy it as much as I expected having read this when it came out, probably in the early 80's. The story is disjointed, character development happens too late in the book. Pages and pages of boring period history and dialog in heavily accented English which I absolutely hate.

This is the second civil war book from Sears I read and I really enjoyed it.

Fantastic, absolutely fantastic. A very interesting premise and extremely well executed story. I was very engaged from page one to the very end.

Gave up on this around the 200 page mark because he started going deeper and deeper into diatribes about the democrats. I'd rather he just write about his experiences like Bolton did, but this book is a political pulpit and not what I was interested in

Meh. Learned some things about booth and the assassination, but that first 100 pages or so about the end of the war (grant chasing lee) didn't belong in the book. They must have had a page target they had to hit, and that stuff had absolutely nothing to do with the main topic of the book.

Pretty lightweight, skips a lot of useful details. Covers cross-platform development with Delphi well enough

Excellent book, great examples and analogies. They sometimes tried too hard to be cute or funny, but still a good read.

Wow, that took a really long time to read. It's a very good book, but I wouldn't call it great. The first third of the book went way way too deep into many topics I really didn't care about (like how one of the cabinet members critiqued his daughter on her letter writing style) but the last half was just what I wanted.

Good book, very different for crais. Was denser, more detail than the Cole novels. Took me a lot longer to read and a lot longer to get to the meat of the book. Just like Robert b Parker's books, this one is all about the lead character with crippling emotional issues. Pretty unoriginal if you look at it that way and something I could have done without.

Likely a good book for it's intended audience but too much math for me. I started skimming then quit about halfway through the book. Would be a better read at a higher level.

Not as much ass kicking as I expected from the movies, but a great and well told story

Great book, more about the actual battles and military strategy than I expected, but still a great book. I love reading about Lincoln.

Cried my eyes out, great story (I'm a dog person).

Wonderful, just freaking wonderful. Loved it.
