This was a great book, I really enjoyed it. I have been interested in security for a while and this was a great introduction on how to make secure web sites in Node. Lots of great explanations, but, toward the end, not so many explanations. Lots of code and “As you can see the vulnerability” I wish he'd explained more as there were some things I simply didn't have the background to grasp.
I struggled to finish this one. I love collections of short stories and had great expectations from Greg (after all, he did write one of the extensions to Asimov's Foundation series and marry Poul Anderson's daughter) but he's the type of writer that either writes stuff that's just hard to understand (I have a degree in Physics, so you'd think I'd be able to understand it) or ends with you scratching your head asking ‘what was that all about?'
I thought I'd want to read some of his books, but now I'm thinking I don't.
Not what I expected, but still interesting. I think if I was starting a major web design project (rather than being in the middle of one) I'd find this book useful. Still, it reinforced things I thought I already knew and will help me have a better dialog with the Marketing folks I'm working with right now.
Read this thinking it would help me with my current project, but it's way too dated to be useful. Would be interesting to see this updated, especially for mobile, but I found that I already knew most of the stuff in here.
Interesting that Isaac Asimov would create a book of stories that have, as a common thread, a question in the story name. It's an old collection of stories (from 1980) so it's stories from authors who wrote in the 60's and 70's - interesting so far, but rather lightweight.
Great book, excellent information for anyone building any web site. I wish there was a mobile version of this, would help me for my next project.
I've read a lot of Orson Scott Card's books and they've all been very good. I look for new books by him all the time. I bought this book a long time ago and I'm finally getting around to finishing it. It's a collection of short stories he published between 1977 and 1990 and boy was I surprised by how twisted this guy is. Very interesting short stories, nothing like his more recent work, very twisted, compelling and interesting. A must read!
Very interesting premise and analysis of existing companies. Plan on applying this stuff as soon as I can.
Good story :-). Lots of good suggestions for how to add impact to what you're trying to impart or who you're trying to influence.
I read this book in preparation for a project I'm starting Monday.
Great book, lots of good information. I found that for the last half of it though I was skimming. I think there was just too much (unnecessary) detail in there. Sections on search and navigation were very interesting.
An amazing, quirky and interesting story. Proves yet again that Orson is a bit twisted but can tell a great story.
