I would give it 4.5 stars if not for Shin Dong-hyuk admitting that he had fabricated details for the book. With that in mind, it is still a worthy read.
I love Japanese food (and language), but I can't get into this book. Chapter one (Tokyo and sushi) was quite interesting, but after that the author kept jumping from one topic to another and I couldn't keep up. I decided to just look at the pictures.
I feel that the book should be split into more sub-chapters and include kanji for the difficult nouns and restaurant names. Reading 10 Japanese words written in unintelligible romaji in one page can really mess up your mind, even to a Japanese speaker like me.
I am a sucker for angsty fanfics and this is how I came into this fic although I am not a fan of Dramione in general.
On one hand, the writing is excellent, but on the other hand everything in this fic is so removed from canon - the tone of the fic and characterisations of the Trio to boot - I had problem believing I was reading a HP fanfic if not for the character names. Also the development of romance between Draco and Hermione just seemed forced to me.
For the whole time I was binge-reading this fic just so I could get to the ending and be done with it, but even the ending was anticlimatic. Nothing changed in the Old World and the two were stuck on an island for the rest of their lives.
I much prefer “Do Not Go Gentle” from the same author which is the only believable Snamione fic I have so far come across.
The writing is good which is the only thing I can praise this fic for. It's WAAAAAAY too long with too many unnecessary dialogues/details (it should be trimmed down to 1/3 of its length), the time travel aspect makes no sense to me, and Mia is more like a super annoying Mary Sue OC than Hermione.
The Mia/Remus and pack bond part should be removed completely since they are just page fillers (a long one at that!) and do not contribute to the main plot of the story, that is, the soul bond between Mia and Sirius.
Gave up reading near the end of part 3.
