The problem with this book is that Myron and team never get close to solving the mystery. It's like author hit the word count and then just ended it dramatically but then had to mansplain the killers story for us.

What a disappointment. The whole book goes along making progress then abruptly ends with the leading characters not only NOT solving the crime but not even aware crimes are being committed. The solution is just narrative in the epilogue. It's like Cook hit his word count and then just ended it.

I don't know why I keep reading this series. The stories are really interesting but the execution sucks. So much time is wasted on describing the make, model, features, manufacture of weapons. I also don't need to know every tendon, muscle, bone, organ a knife goes through as someone is stabbed. It comes off as lame writing the author just trying to hit their word count. It takes me out of the action.

I listened to the audiobook and I must say Scott Brock trying a French accent let alone a female French accent was horribly distracting

so bad. listened to audiobook translation. Not sure if that was reason.

so boring. it kept saying the same thing over and over.

5/6 of this book was just some grief stricken guy just sad and wondering around with some weirdness. The last 1 hour of 12 audiobook then author has to do on long diatribe to explain what's been going on. Lame. And it's completely out of left field.

just slow and boring....

I rarely give 1 star but I had too. This book was horrible. The lead character do NOT investigating. She just whines over and over that “not our jurisdiction” then bitches about her relationship. Oh a relationship that means NOTHING to the story. This is also NOT a mystery. There is only 1 suspect. I kept hoping some twist would come in but nope. Plus the ending was 100% Grisham realizing he was at 45,000 words and need to end the story before he hit 50,000. What a cop out ending.

Burt Reynolds was a horrible book reader.

I absolutely love this series. The series starts off great and just keeps getting better. The thing I like the most is the unpredictability of the plot. Just when you think you know what to expect, you get thrown one hell of a curve ball. All of the characters are well written, no two dimensional characters here! It is amazing that the author can make you care as much about ancillary characters and their story as the main protagonist. I found myself wanting to know as much about every new character encountered as I did the main characters.

first half was much better than second.

Lame. The audio book was recorded in a closet. Story generic alien attack

DNF. The story starts fine but the writing is so bad. Within the first 2 hours (audiobook), there are too many juvenile references to the lead characters boobs ( sample: “she reaches to coffee cup and towel slips. she quickly pulls it up but not before Bill gets an eye full of her incredible figure and one of her breasts. Bill says ‘you sure are physically fit' she says to try to defuse the situation.”).
The story also goes lame with all the “major” revelations just being told to the lead vs discovered.
I could not take anymore...

A hot mess. Interesting premise but ended up being predictable generic storyline. I listened to audio book. It had an 1.5 hr long EPILOGUE!!

I enjoyed the read. It was a slow burn but kept you interested in the solution. It was a little predictable. I like that the "clues" in the elevator did not give it all away. The captives slowly figured out why they were targeted. There was one surprise at the end. Vincent survived. What happened to him? The story could have been cut 20% to speed up and an epilogue of what happened to Vincent.

All over the place. So many characters that none were memorable.

Really good story. I recommend the audiobook. Since podcast is a key part of the story the podcast segments in the audiobook have intro and exit music so you know you are switching from narrative to the podcast broadcast. The narrator was amazing.

I enjoyed the story but was disappointed by the ending. It was a pretty anticlimactic and abrupt. Overall, the story was clever and entertaining.

This book was just a beat down. It was like someone reading the imdb trivia for 80's movies with some obscure video games (since the popular ones were in the first book) thrown in. Everything was described in excruciating details. This book left nothing for the reader to engage with. There was no way for the user to solve any mystery or puzzle. I listened to audiobook read by Will Wheaton and he has made career off his gamer/pop culture cred but he just is not a good narrator.
